There's really only been like two generations of women's MMA fighters, is the thing. You can't even really count the pioneers as a full generation because there was so goddamn few of them, and the real first generation of folks who were fighting in the mid-2000s are only now really starting to retire en masse. Jessica Penne was fighting on HookNShoot cards in like 2006 and she just fuckin' fought.

We're only one generation removed from when the competition was thin and untrained enough that you could be a one-art specialist and still make it to the top.
