rather funnily, the montreaux convention (which describes the rules for turkey blocking the strait) is one of the only pieces of international law that isn't worthless in some outrageous material way they're planning a canal to gently caress it up eventually, so this is a temporary statement, but it's had a good 100-year run

So it looks like it would give Turkey more freedom on tolls. Or let in more warships than allowed by the Convention. You're currently not getting a carrier battle group into the black sea. 1970's Red Army was no joke. But the rot had started. Afghan war wasn't great and the collapse of the USSR meant a massive sell off. I think a lot of people thought that the Russian army was functioning. Sure it some corruption problems but what actually has happened in the past 2 years is a joke. What has happened in Ukraine is just wild. Having to repeatedly lie on state TV that actually, we are fighting the whole of NATO throughout this war.
