I remember once reading an old manga (crying freeman, maybe?) where the protag travelled to Malaysia and they did this whole historical revisionist thing about how Japan was in south east Asia to help liberate the people from colonialism and the malaysians were all secretly grateful to Japan for the war and I was like lol oh hell no

But then the Japanese wanted slave labour to rebuild the refineries and oil wells that were blown up, and comfort women, etc etc They really couldn’t help themselves. Same thing happened in Indochina.

The wiki page about the museum mentions the other two, but kind of weirdly says that the plural was removed???or something. Here let's see: quote:On 31 July 2015, the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine renamed the museum in order to reflect the singular instance of the famine-genocide known as Holodomor. Prior to this, the museum, which represents three famines – the 1921–1923 famine, the 1932–1933 famine, and the 1946-1947 famine – used the term 'Holodomor' as a plural term. The plural has been removed in order to offset the understanding of the Holodomor being the 1932–1933 famine as being exclusively deemed to be genocidal in nature.
