Avril’s original public image as a very young performer was an amalgamation of several youth-sub-counter-cultures that happened between 1997 and 2004, she became “generic alternative girl” and I don’t mean that in any way negatively. She also kept that vaguely punk rock-ish flavored thing going for several years after others before her had stopped which became kind of her niche
