A lot of people have posthumously canceled Michael Jackson, for understandable reasons. I'll say the only song I've listened to by him lately would be "they don't care about us." That song made such a statement in its time and is still relevant today. I just can't erase it from my memory. Otherwise any time Michael Jackson music comes on I kind of cringe.

This is a complicated question because I think he personally was a monster but we can't ignore his humongous impact on music and pop culture. So I no longer listen to his music but I try to incorporate his mannerisms into my own and moonwalk everywhere. Shamone! Hee hee!

Yes, especially Beat It for that guitar solo. Quincy Jones is a fuckin genius. Imagine any album being released today that has anywhere near the impact of "Thriller". It will never happen again.

Michael Jackson always struck me as one of those artists that was like, objectively good, despite the fact that I personally never liked anything that they made. i like the first three jackson 5 hits that are all basically the same song (i want you back, abc, the love you save) because a) that one song is so good it was 3 different number 1s, and b) he was like 12 and if anything the victim at that point

Listening to the isolated vocal track, as I so often do, you can clearly hear it sung as "durrr-dee ni-ann-ahh". The emphasis on "dee" from "durr dee" does two things - it creates an implied "tee" sound, which causes "durr dee" to sound like "dirty", while also making the "ni" part of "ni-ann-ahh" sound like "di" as in "dye" instead of "ni" as in "night" (although the "ni-ann-ahh" IS clearly being sung with "ni" sounding the way you pronounce the last name of Bill Nye or the ni in "night" ).
