there’s a wood here called kauri and it’s now illegal to harvest so it’s quite valuable only it’a kinda ugly as a timber. and it reminds me of old churches ugh the big examples approach california redwoods in volume but not height. unlike the redwoods they’re more cylindrical and less conical but almost all of them have already been harvested

Douglas Fir is also called Oregon Pine I've got one growing next to my driveway that's a good 12 feet tall now, gonna be a giant like others in the neighborhood some day

just repping nz woods https://www.doc.govt.nz/nature/native-plants/ "The native flora of New Zealand is unique as it evolved in isolation for millions of years." if someone feels a desperate need, here is a link that provides some images of some plants that probably look kinda unique. not that there isn't unique stuff all around the world, but it's quite likely you haven't experienced looking at these ones
