Yeah you get the rupee armor like 1/4 of the way to collecting all the frogs. I don’t think there’s a further reward besides completionism

You get a paraglider fabric that glows like that armour for finding all frogs.

I didn't collect all the Koroks in BoTW and sometimes help them in ToTK if I'm not on a mission to do a specific thing (especially since my flying machine carries them pretty well) but there's something about going into caves to find those frogs that speaks to me.

Jimbone Tallshanks

You can't pull rank on murder.

Those Koroks need to be automatically marked when you speak to them or something. You try to help one, but then you accidentally send off the rocket sled early, so you decide to leave and come back once it resets, but you know you won't.

I did and I've found a few that way but there's so much of the map that I already traversed before I started looking so the Hero's Path is useless and I'd basically be gridwalking as someone else put it :negative:

Uncle Ben: Still Dead.
It's easier with the caves than it was with the wells for two reasons:

1) There's an in-game way to show you where all the cave entrances are.

Offer any fruit to the statues underneath the cherry blossom trees, and the cave entrances for that area will illuminate for 24 hours, I believe. Outskirt Stable has a map that shows you where all the cherry blossom trees are

2) Caves get marked with a checkmark when you've murked the Bubbulfrog inside.

There is, admittedly, at least one pair of caves where the entrances are close enough that unless you _really_ look the in-game indicator will make you think there's only one. And similarly at least one pair of disjoint caves where you can sensor the Bubbulfrog that's in the other cave and can get frustrated trying to find a way through a wall, but I ultimately wound up not having to go to a guide or gridwalk to find them all.

I ended up taking a picture of those rabbit things outside every cave and setting my sensor to it. The final one that was really frustrating me ended up being on the tutorial island lol.

Getting to Kolton every time was annoying enough that he really should've just kept telling you when there were more.

Along with that, there's also a little extra bit if you go show that reward to Kilton. And then if you go to Koltin's favorite place, which is the cherry tree on Satori Mountain, you get a nice little scene to remember the whole thing.

I admit I went for all the gems. All the Addison signs, too. I agree that it's kinda bullshit that Koltin stops being able to detect the things after a while. Especially because by the time you need to find the last few, you've already found all the most obvious ones. If they were gonna go that route, they should've done it the other way, and made Koltin unable to detect anything until he ate a few gems. Three of my final 5 caves were these ones with tiiiiny little entrances like half a kilometer away from the frog. I ended up having to use a guide to find the last like dozen caves.

They're not benevolent. They mock you evry time you lose your way in the fog. A normal person would be lost forever and starve to death. Before you slip into eternal darkness, the last thing you'd be conscious of is that laugh.

Ganon is probably right in wanting to destroy Hyrule. Link is on the wrong side of history. He is the eternal recurrence of suffering. Maybe that's too dark.

Speaking of Ganon, took him down. I was struggling with how vague the clues were for those new trials I unlocked in the 4 regions, then looked it up and realized thats part of the DLC.

Hyrule was pretty easy especially seeing I just used the Zora armor to swim up some waterfalls and reached the top in no time. Took entirely too long to realize what I had to do once he turned orange. Strange the game didn't seem to give me any chance to save afterwards, I see a star in my most recent savegame but its right before I did the last fight. Not sure if I wanna move on to tears yet or not.

For anyone else who never figured it out, having an elemental weapon equipped helps tip your body temperature in the logical direction. So if your armor isn't keeping you cool/warm enough, having a flame sword or blizzard rod etc just equipped will help you out.

Zelda games tend not to let you save any later than "right before the final fight". In the old ones that was it; you had a nice save right before the final boss fight or could go back out of the dungeon and find any side quests you hadn't done yet. In newer ones like BotW there is something of a postgame now that you've beaten the boss, but not a lot of new stuff to do by any means.

I've read a lot about how annoying the rails are in the fire temple and that people used zonai devices to bypass them, but you don't even need to do anything that fancy. You can just bypass most of the rails by climbing and paragliding.

I've seen at least one video that criticized the building mechanic for being too versatile in TOTK because you could make a hoverbike and just zoom over puzzles when it's not like the game actually teaches you how to make one. Use one if you want but it's not a failure of the game, lol.

I dunno. I honestly liked the little touches afterward that I highlighted in my previous post. I agree that things like the korok seeds and fully lighting up the depths and helping Addison put up all the signs are Nintendo trolls, yeah, with Addison being like, just barely on the non-trolling side because the reward looks amazing. But if you choose to fully follow through the last bit of stuff after handing in all the gems, it turns out to be a really touching moment in the game. It's like after Mattison leaves for Gerudo Town. If you talk to Rhondson after Mattison leaves, she's all worried about her daughter making it there, and if she's doing well, and if she's happy. But once you find her, you can snap a pic and show Rhondson, and she's just so relieved that she made it and is doing just fine. You get no reward for this, just the satisfaction of helping a worried parent worry less about her child. It's a beautiful little touch that helps the world feel more real, just like following through and letting Kilton know that his brother followed his dreams.

been playing dragon’s dogma 2 and I noticed it does a similar thing to elden ring where the open world is C-shaped instead of being a bubble, so that you can’t cut across the middle to get from one end to the other. I really like this structure since it ends up feeling like more of a journey with a distinct beginning, middle, and end-game areas while still being very open-ended. I think it’d be cool to see this kinda approach in a future Zelda game, they could keep a lot of the freedom of BotW/ToTK’s gameplay but still let the story have a difficulty curve instead of each dungeon having to treat itself as if it’s the first dungeon you’ve been to
