Augus posted:If you have three full stamina bars and 38 hearts you’re at the max. I assume this is the logic too but it still bugs me because just like yellow stamina becomes its own separate wheel regardless of how much you already have, they could make yellow hearts occupy a separate row no matter how many hearts you have. Like sorry but 40 hearts and max armor is already broken, 60 hearts and max armor isn't actually that much of an upgrade.

Cartoon Man posted:https://www.ign.com/playlist/igneditorial/lists/the-ign-communitys-25-best-rated-games drat. I was close. I got OoT and the Switches. My other guesses were "Twilight Princess" because I see people go for that one a lot lately and "A Link to the Past or maybe The Wind Waker. Whoops.

SweetMercifulCrap! posted:After completing BotW I still felt compelled to keep playing and find all the shrines, but for some reason I have no desire to find anymore in TotK. I've found about 70. They've just been mostly disappointing. Most are either a tutorial, a quick game, a blessing, or a "removed all your items" battle. I think only two have had me slightly stumped so far. BotW had many that were pretty fleshed out. Yeah sadly I think the only really fun TotK shrines are the Eventide Island rip-offs. I'm having a hard time thinking of any others that were particular stand-outs, except for the flowing sand one that is honestly way too big. And maybe that even was a no items one.

codo27 posted:Strange the game didn't seem to give me any chance to save afterwards, I see a star in my most recent savegame but its right before I did the last fight. Zelda games tend not to let you save any later than "right before the final fight". In the old ones that was it; you had a nice save right before the final boss fight or could go back out of the dungeon and find any side quests you hadn't done yet. In newer ones like BotW there is something of a postgame now that you've beaten the boss, but not a lot of new stuff to do by any means.

I found that the rails in the Temple were fun 75% of the time and that 25% of the time the local escort quest shithead would, in the process of hopping onto the rail cart, send me flying into the lava below.

Mulaney Power Move posted:Despite adding a sky labyrinth and a depths labyrinth to each one I think they were actually more difficult in BoTW. There's really not much of a maze aspect here. It's because the sky labyrinth is the same and there isn't actually a depths labyrinth.

Wait why are people dunking on BotW's final dungeon? It's the best dungeon in the game and frankly it's better than most if not all of TotK's as well.

RCarr posted:I used a map and got 999 koroks but I must have marked one off by accident so now I have no way of getting the last one without going through my map and marking 999 koroks off one by one lol Technically you'll be marking off 200 of them two by two. Does that make the task sound less daunting?

Put some more time into my TotK 100% run for the first time in awhile; I was taking a break because I just got a Steam Deck and that's been gobbling up my gaming attention. I am constantly struck by how empty and repetitive the game world feels in comparison to BotW. The approach to Spectacle Rock I used in BotW that had several enemies of note (climbing up the square cliffs by the stable and following the path) has a mere two in TotK and then a much quicker physics puzzle than the one BotW had. After I flew off into the East Gerudo Archipelago and even the last island on the route was clearly someplace I'd been several times before, though it at least had a fun puzzle in getting a mirror moved around (that I could have shortcutted by just pulling one out, naturally).

Captain Hygiene posted:Ah, that sounds right, I thought it seemed like something from the depths. I don't want to look up where exactly that was, so I'll just see if I can kluge together an offbrand version. It's the depot northeast of the factory. I want to say right leg. Just did it for my 100% run and I'd rant more about my TotK opinions but they boil down to "Despite everything, BotW was way better", only spread out over 100,000 words, so I'll spare y'all.

Don't you remember the side quest where you help that weirdo track down all 62 static goats in Hyrule for his orgy? The cutscene went on a little long but I thought it was pretty tasteful.

John Wick of Dogs posted:I think that's just one Ganondorf, and there have been others throughout history. I think the TotK devs have heavily suggested that everything we see in the Switch games happens after the OG Hyrule from the main series is so wiped out that it's only a legend. Thus, this Ganondorf is at least the third and Rauru is the first king of a new Hyrule built on the ruins of the old. Of course that means this whole thing has been happening for like 20,000 years which is just honestly depressing that they still can't ever move on.

YggiDee posted:Americans have their own moon?! You bastards get everything We do (it has our own flags on it and everything), but we share it with everyone else. Back in 1983, a plane crashed at night due to a Soviet plot to use a weather machine to block out the stars, so Reagan had the military make the moon visible to all civilians to try and thwart them. Berlin Wall fell six years later as a result, though not before Soviet propagandists successfully convinced everyone that we'd been racing them to our own moon in the sixties.

Mulaney Power Move posted:The criticism that the depths and sky islands are just full of copy and pasting comes to mind. And the surface world is fhe same except with sky ruins cluttering the landscape and as many caves, bokoblins, koroks, etc. as they could cram in per square inch. Boy I'm really coming down hard on TotK all of a sudden. Maybe I should do the final fight and see the ending before I pronounce it 10lbs of poo poo in a 5lb bag. Go kill Ganondorf. Take it from someone who's a bit down on the game. There's a lot of fun to be had.
