Related to Vice - Patrick Klepek mentioned that Waypoint being shut down wasn't because they weren't profitable (they ran in the black extremely stably basically since it's inception), it was only canned because they weren't bringing in year after year growth. https://twitter.com/patrickklepek/status/1652841557521735680 Ultimately I think probably the biggest blight upon journalism (and a lot of entertainment industries in general) is the investor demand for growth over something quietly stable and profitable.
