A minor thing popped up in my head - once all the paperwork is delivered and Finland is officially in NATO, does it mean they will need to accept Sweden's request to join as well?

Because they're not getting into NATO at the same time? They wanted to do that, but as far as I understand Sweden will have to wait for some unspecified extra time, while Finland is basically good to go? Were there similar situations in the previous group accessions?

I think you misunderstood me/I asked the question poorly (or I'm misunderstanding your explanation, I only just woke up) - my question was: will Finland need to accept Sweden to NATO?

Simplest way to see if Russia did it is to see what kind of captured "suspects" or "evidence" they have tomorrow. If the proof was as ridiculous as 3 copies of Sims 3 like last time, then we know.

Yeah, we all know that it's the green wig that really seals the deal about Ukraine being behind the false flag operation against the real flag.

Putin openly says that Wagner was directly financed by the state and around 86 bln roubles (1-1,2 bln USD) was paid to them from Russian budget in 2022-2023.

So much for Private in PMC.

Judging by the tone, probably means that Wagner is going to be defunded or dismantled (good).

Does he say financed or paid for during that period (I know that the idea of Wagner being independent from Russia is laughable, but being paid for the 'services' wouldn't make them not-private).

Well, the new government will be much more pro-EU so that obstacle is out. Slovakia might slide in Poland's place though.

have they even bothered to conjure up 2024's designated fail opposition yet

truly, i am excited for the first russian presidential elections since 2012 where, well, idk, what are we paying attention to this time? the war? new ballot stuffing techniques? i mean goddamn something amusing will happen, surely, but something meaningful is fffffff

to be clear, i have no disagreement with op; i am venting about things i shouldn't really care about

I'm looking forward to seeing another installment of the 'lady nonchalantly sticks some balloons in front of the monitoring camera to stuff the ballot box'. Though I may be mistaking her from the Belarusian elections. Why they even bother with that, instead of making up numbers, I don't know.

poo poo, inflation in Canada in 2022 was 6.8% and as far as I can tell we are not on any sort of war footing.

I mean Poland wasn't on any war footing in 2022 either, we still managed to have over 14% inflation.

When they were talking to the mechanic and he said that the Bradley wasn’t designed for Ukrainian winters, wasn’t the Bradley originally designed for a Cold War conflict in Europe? Surely the designers would have taken European winters into account.

I don't know what that design would've encompassed, but there are different climates on the continent of Europe, yes. What you get in Eastern Ukraine is different from Eastern Poland, which is different from Eastern Germany.

There's a similar old Soviet joke. What is huge as a house and needs 20 litres of fuel to slice one apple into three pieces? A Soviet four-piece apple slicer machine.

And in a similar vein: why did the Soviet microprocessor industry fail? They couldn't fit the microprocessors through the factory gates.

Regarding the US aid package - I'm assuming the Senate isn't quite as insane as the House when it comes to the Republicans? Or is there some expectation of a pushback during/before the vote? Is filibuster a threat for the bill?
