I still wanna go back and play cyberpunk but I'll be doing on an Ivy Bridge from 2012 and using gtx 960. I bought it at half price by accident, thinking I was downloading Outer Worlds. I still haven't uninstalled it. It runs like poo poo but it's still sort of playable - I won't finish it. It's like playing Oblivion on a gts 8800 on a dual core.

I enjoyed what I did play. I need a new microwave and cooker before any computer upgrades. I'll probably have to build one from scratch instead of upgrading what I have.

I think I should just buy a console.

If anyone wants an offline version of a Diablo clone that doesn't have seasons or requires you to be online all the time check out Grim Dawn. It doesn't have insanely complicated skill trees either.

Diablo seems to be extremely popular but it doesn't have a lot of clones. Unlike FPS or other things. They don't seem like a difficult game to make either. I'll never understand that.

Yeah, I liked the first two Torchlight games but they seemed dated compared to Grim Dawn. Isn't the first one over a decade old? I've heard bad reports about Torchlight three.

I remember one of the first caves you visited in Skryim was called Embershard Mine. I can't help thinking that was a reference to Torchlight. Like the Notched Pickaxe.

Portal of Evil was a website back in the late 90's and early 2000's that was a collection of obscure websites. They had rule - you weren't supposed to harass webmasters of the weird sites you looked up. It was unlike the early days of SA and awful link of the day when nobody had a problem with 'goonrushing' obscure geocities webpages. They saw themselves as curators of the bizarre, don't harass and disturb these weirdos so they don't leave the internet.

Some internet legends were frequent contributors to PoE, like Robert Wolpaw (of Old Man Murray Fame and also one of the story writers for Portal) and Seanbaby.

It doesn't exist anymore. I just googled "Portal of Evil" and the first two results were a tabletop RPG and obscure computer game from 2015. The third result was from WikiFur - people who would have an obvious beef about someplace like Portal of Evil.

There's others too but those are the most interesting ones imo.

Oh yeah! I was going to mention Victor Vran but it seems like it's own unique thing with it's jumping puzzles and lack of a skill tree. I was going to mention The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing too but that doesn't really qualify as a diablo clone either becuase enemies don't respawn.

Um. I should confess that I never actually played Diablo, I just like the style of game.

The vanilla version of Grim Dawn was made by an independant studio and only costs £20 right now. I think I got in sale for £15. It's popular and if you wanna buy all the expansions it probably costs a whole lot more.

I think this is worth paying for it:

Not to defend her, but some people that have to work with very difficult stressful jobs that involve death and pain/ suffering will use humor as an outlet for that stress. I know it doesn't seem funny at all, it's actually extremely awful but I'm just saying this is not uncommon to see with people in the medical field especially, gallows humor type stuff that's hard to get when you aren't in on the joke because you don't deal with death in your work. Like I wouldn't have laughed at that at all and I'm not saying it's good that she posted it. I'm just trying to wrap my head around it and make it make sense. Maybe that's my mistake.

I liked some of the stuff elise posted but it was a pretty long time ago and I don't really remember what she was like other than that. I feel like if you say something like that you don't belong here. But I bet if she posted that on some medic subreddit or Facebook group or whatever she'd get laughs from people. It's a kinda hosed up coping mechanism and something that's not often discussed outside of certain circles.

This is from a while back but yeah. I had an older friend who passed away recently who was a paramedic. He told me about his first night on the job. "I wasn't shocked by what I saw, but I was shocked by my coworkers joking attitude." Then he soon found himself cracking jokes along with them. He explained it like this, "If you don't laugh, you get sad. If you get sad you start to cry. If you cry, then you breakdown and you can't do your job."

I also had a friend who worked in a bar and the guy who owned it was the local undertaker (something strangely common where I'm from). My friend said he would drop things in conversation that would make most peoples hair stand on end.

I'm not trying to defend elise, I honestly don't know much about her or that saga.

Anyone remember a goon called Interstellar Idiot? He had a similar problem with games, he couldn't get past the crows (harpies?) at the start of the first God of War game. This is going way, way back, to like 2006 or something. He actually made a lot of threads and many of them were goldmined. Not because he was a good poster but because of some of the crazy things he said made for great comedy. Like how he was in his 20's and living away from home but his parents still monitored his browsing history to make sure he wasn't looking at porn. He also got probed by The Finn for trying to get goons to do his homework for him.

He was near the top of the posting gloryhole for number of goldmined threads.

Like I said, this is almost forums pre-history. The very thing that brought me to the forums in the first place were the comedy articles on the front page. Taylor 'Psychosis' Bell was easily my favourite writer. I'd put him on a par with Seanbaby, even. I searched his name and got 7 results, 5 of which were me asking if anyone remembered him. I went and checked the frontpage to see if his work is still around.

All this talk of God of War and Pokemon. Not two things that go together but it reminds me of something from long ago.

Some goon came across an advertisement or something. I can't recall but I think it was two seperate pieces of different articles above and below each other. One about God of War and the other about Spongebob Squarepants. Goons had a field day doing MSpaints of Spongebob dressed up as Kratos and acting out the events in God of War.
