Goldmined the minute after I posted it the first time, so I'll post it again here

Fightful posted:

WWE and Endeavor announced an agreement to sell on April 3. The sale will see WWE and UFC merge to form a new publicly traded company. The sale and merger is expected to go through in the second half of 2023. A new name for the publicly traded company has not been decided, but is currently listed as TKO.

Forbes reports that Vince McMahon made $198 million on Tuesday with the stock rising and is now worth $3.1 billion.

The beating of Cody, this badly seems metaphorically like Vince wanted the symbolic representation of WWE, in Roman and Brock, to triumph over AEW (Cody).

You'll get words about how this has to be exaggeration/hyperbole/no way it could be true, like it didn't literally happen before on a Mania in the form of WWE (HHH and DX) triumphing over WCW (Sting and NWO)

https://puck.news/the-art-of-aris-wwe-deal/ The Endeavor deal was done late Saturday while everyone was around for Mania. It was close between them and Liberty Media (the owners of F1 racing)

quote:

The pair outlined their proposal during a meeting with WWE chairman Vince McMahon and C.E.O. Nick Khan at Raine Group offices, in New York, in mid-March, sources involved with the deal told me, and made a more emotional pitch one week later at WWE headquarters in Stamford. Still, they faced stiff competition from at least one rival bidder—John Malone’s Liberty Media, the owner of Formula One—until the very end, and it wasn’t until Saturday night that they signed the term sheet. As Shapiro described it, “it was nip and tuck all the way.”

By coincidence, the deal was finalized while Ari, McMahon and Khan were at Wrestlemania 39 in Los Angeles, the two-day, pay-per-view mega-event that effectively functions as the wrestling world’s Super Bowl. It provided a conveniently cinematic backdrop for the deal’s denouement: the image of Ari and Vince hashing out a deal in the SoFi Stadium executive suite was a made-for-HBO narrative too impossible for some to resist, even if the real particulars were really being handled by lawyers and bankers at the two firms’ offices. Shapiro, who was scheduled to attend Wrestlemania, stayed in New York to close the deal.

Finally, in the small hours of Monday morning, Ari, McMahon and Khan went to WME headquarters in Beverly Hills where they prepared for a morning of calls with analysts and reporters (McMahon did one, then went back to his hotel). Khan had a relatively easy story to tell: the deal is an undeniable victory for WWE, which was eager to find a buyer and has seen its stock rise about 10 percent since the deal was announced. (Endeavor’s stock has fallen by a similar amount.)

Cuts obviously coming, and they're in the middle of a hiring freeze until after

Fightful posted:

Several talent that Fightful have spoken with have claimed there’s a “hiring freeze,” and have speculated everything from Vince McMahon’s return to a potential sale being the reasons. Nobody that we have spoken to have explicitly been told there’s a hiring freeze, yet it’s a term that constantly emerged.

There was interest within WWE concerning Jay White, Brian Cage, Nick Aldis and the Authors of Pain, however sources that we spoke with indicated that AOP were already in talks with WWE in 2022, before Vince’s return Triple H was high on Nick Aldis, but he was one of the many left out in the cold when McMahon returned.

Multiple talent that were told because of the impending sale/deal, it was hard to make things happen. Some talent who signed in 2022 haven’t even been used yet. (For example, PWInsider reported around January that Eric Young has signed with WWE but he hasn't showed up yet.)

The only Impact show in the last five years I can say I've watched and been disappointed by was their most recent PPV, and even that was mostly because their world champ tore his tricep off and had to vacate. Otherwise great matches and/or comedy

They even killed off Eric Young at the end of last year just so HHH could sign him and do nothing with him, so the comedy isn't even limited to just being onscreen
