I think it'd be pretty funny if this merger leads to the ultimate out of touch boss falling for "The brand is the star" that WWE have been trying to convince themselves of and almost everyone on the roster gets cut except for 2-3 big names and the rest are a bunch of NXT nobodies and opening card wrestlers I think the new boss is smarter than that but it's still funny to think that we could see Roman Reigns vs Odyssey Jones because everyone else got cut

Usually when Impact was bad it was really easy to laugh at or they had good wrestling somewhere else on the show. There are much longer stretches of WWE just being bad and having no redeeming qualities

Eddie Edwards and Davey Richards were a hot tag team for a year or two, went to NXT and I think they jobbed to The Ascension at their peak in NXT so they were a little too early to be indie darlings in NXT under Hunter. Then they split up and Eddie Edwards' peak was becoming an Impact champion long after The American Wolves were relevant and I think Davey kept skipping out on indie bookings, became a fire-fighter and retired several times and did a porno. I'm sure Tony Khan could probably throw them back together for a little ROH nostalgic run because I remember The American Wolves being a good tag-team but they're both uninteresting singles wrestlers

Other than which coworkers they get to see every week why should any superstar care about what brand they're on. At least when the draft was originally around there was brand rivalry, brand identity and both brands behind the scenes were competing against each other to put on the better matches but both RAW and Smackdown both look and are wrote exactly the same so who cares

There's no GMs for the brands, there's no real competition, of course it doesnt matter because if they really want to they'll just have people show up on the other shows anyway, the draft is just another attempt at boosting TV numbers for a week or two

The biggest difference between NJPW title defenses and WWE title defenses is that NJPW will sneak in someone like Karl Anderson every now and then and have an incredible match while when someone in a similar role sneaks into a title match in the WWE it's because they're "too over" and get squashed as punishment except that bizarre Triple H vs Taka match

Everyone always thinks they're the exception to the rule until it happens to them in the WWE and nobody's learning that lesson harder than Cody but also, lol at all the people Triple H started bringing back and pushing getting sent back to NXT. I just wonder when the firing spree will take place and we can see people get fired for a third, fourth time in under 8 years because of budget cuts
