awoooo drug addicts of gbs Awooooooooooo as for myself: pretty much anything minus crack, meth, etc. because I’m horrifically bougie. I don’t inject as I’m petrified. I’ve hesitated with psychedelics as I have had depression since I was thirteen, but I’m at a stage where as long as I’m in a good environment, I’m keen. My faves? Good ol’ cannabis, Cuervo gold, fine Columbian, most opiates, and occasionally legal amphetamines. Lyrica is my white whale, will most likely kill me but god what a feeling, or lack there of. As of late I stick with cannabis, cocktails and “crap I stumble into”. Partner’s friend gave me dexy and I’m planning on a midnight run this holiday weekend. I also love/hate making edibles. Recently made a gingerbread that will disembowel you. Fun stuff! E: time to absolutely wreck this thread: how would you describe your usage? Addiction? Disorder? Ain’t nothin but a gooood time? i did opiates for like 10 years culminating in shooting heroin for the last few years of my use. ive tried just about everything including smoking crack a few dozen times but opiates were the one thing that completely devoured me. been clean about 4 years now, aside from taking the odd hit of acid here and there heres the funny part, I can think back to all the times I shot up and feel nothing but when I think about crack I start getting euphoric recall like a motherfucker. racing heart, sweaty palms, all that stuff. I mean I had fun doing it and all but I didnt think it was THAT great at the time oh and I used to smoke a ton of weed too but I hate it now

He was told to lose weight 12 years ago so he could get a knee replacement but he never did as he was also a depressed alcoholic. He went into hospital 2 weeks ago with septicemia. It looked like he was going to be okay for a while -if they amputated his legs- until fluid started filling his lungs. They checked his blood for anything that shouldn't be there and they found Seroquel, which was possibly given to him by my friends bipolar ex-gf as a nightcap of sorts. I don't know if there is a connection, but still.

I have intractable tinnitus that made sleep and functioning difficult and after years of seeing specialists and trying every nonpharmaceutical intervention under the sun, I resorted to taking 2mg Klonopin + 4-600mg gabapentin per day. I've been doing this since 2017, and, having withdrawn from benzos twice in the past, I consider myself severely dependent on both drugs and would expect a reasonable taper off to take 12-20 months, should some better tinnitus treatment emerge. I also use cannabis on a daily basis to the point that if I cease suddenly I will have profound rebound insomnia for 10-14 days, so, I would also say I am addicted to that one. I use alcohol maybe weekly these days, and tobacco like 1-2x a year. Coffee daily, and am addicted, but the withdrawal from that one is, like, not significant or concerning.

I am kind of all or nothing in that I will go periods where I'm pretty much high any waking moment I don't have to do anything else, then I get bored with it or something and I might stop completely for weeks or months. It may have to do with my bipolar cycles Edit talking about weed

It’s not a bad idea for anyone who does heavy duty psychedelics to keep a little Seroquel around - it will knock down a bad trip pretty quickly. Thorazine works even better, but Seroquel is easier to find. Seroquel is a weird drug, in small doses, it’s a decongestant, in larger doses it puts you right to sleep in a hurry, and in continuous large doses, it builds up in the brain and works as an antipsychotic. It’s a second-gen antipsychotic, so it has all the fun side effects of older psych drugs, but it works for many people that can’t take the newer high-tech antipsychotics for whatever reasons.

I scream at the top of my lungs for 10 or 15 minutes, and I’m right as rain  Works every time.

What’s weird is despite my moderate substance use, I need to be in an ok mood minimum in order to do so. I can’t do anything if I’m upset, angry, depressed, etc. and sometimes it’s forced myself to get myself together when I’m depressed if I want to smoke.

I realized I have an addictive personality by the time I was 12 or 13, so I made sure to never even try alcohol or drugs of any kind, no matter how lame it made me. 35 now (and very lame), still haven't touched a drop of liquor, but I had some surgery last year wherein I was prescribed some Percocets. I tried holding off as long as I could, managing with tylenol but eventually the pain was too much to bear so I took half a perc. It sucked total rear end; worked worse than the tylenol for pain, and being high was terrible. Just made me nauseous and my scalp buzz. I only kept using it for the anti-inflammatory properties, which were also worse than ibuprofen but I couldn't take a blood thinner. Once I recovered I flushed what was left, about a dozen pills. Just absolute garbage.

Just absolute garbage.  One of the little things I'm continuously thankful for is that I loving loathe opiates. I quit drinking alcohol over ten years ago, and quit smoking cigarettes/vaping nicotine a little over three years ago, but my weed consumption has been somewhere between absurd and crippling for like 20 years now  weirdly questioning if I should actually quit, or just figure out a better  way to get high... seems like opening the door to booze again could be way more problematic

I can get Everclear within a block I think you can extract with vodka (or maybe a 100+ proof bourbon would work better if you can get that), it just takes longer.

I can get stronger alcohol when I’m in other countries and bring it back, which is why I’m genuinely considering a second suitcase the next time I visit my mom and plan out to hit the legal limit before I need to get involved with the taxman. Yup, even though sometimes it feels tempting to try to cheat and make brownies, I get extremely reliable results by taking the trouble to make normal shatter with ethanol, and then decarb that by itself and add some olive oil back in at the end at whatever dose (often/usually 66.6mg/ml hail satan). If a whole batch is going in tincture sometimes I cheat the process by skipping winterization, because having some amount of chlorophyl and plant fats crash out isn't the end of the world if it's being eaten anyway. Some people say chlorophyll irritates the GI tract but then I wonder if those people eat green vegetables at all, or what. RSO was the a gold standard for extremely strong medical tincture for a long time, and generally the techniques described will pull a lot of non-psychoactives (but still yield something that's stupidly potent). e: teen witch I PMed you ethanol advice you can ignore because if you're not in north america yea bummer
