Because I was prepared for that book/story to be pretty average based on Mann's work over the last 10-15 years, but holy poo poo, if the Mexico heist makes it to film, it's gonna own bones. I really liked the book, but Al Pacino ruined it for me by suggesting that Timothée Chalamet should play a young version of him and I couldn't stop cracking up imagining Timmy as a grizzled Chicago detective

Tumble posted:It's a fun book but I have no idea why Mann went with an Uber-Waingro for the villain, he wasn't horribly written or anything but there are million other types of bad guys so it didn't seem particularly original to go with "extremely sadistic criminal" again. Agreed, boy was that guy a huge piece of poo poo. I have a feeling that something went over my head because it seemed weird to me that Hanna would apparently give up on catching the guy for all these years.
