No one can afford to have a kid there if you’ve got a typical Greek salary. People make like $1-2k a month and that’s on the high end of normal salary range for Greek companies. If you’re lucky enough to work for a multi-national corp then you’re maybe pulling an above avg salary for the U.S. and living like a king. It’s really expensive to exist there now. Food, utilities, taxes have all gone through the roof and people can’t afford vacations anymore. Prices for ferries, hotels, dining out have exploded. It’s sad and I’m predicting a tourism collapse soon there which will make the situation even more dire.

It’s like that scene in Breaking Bad when the cartel wants Jessie to cook for them and he doesn’t know how to make the phenylacetic acid because he just gets it from the barrel with the bee on it.
