Wikipedia I don't know Reddit is a real cesspit and always have been but some of the small active subsrs for poo poo you are into? I.e. the Thomas Pynchon subreddit seems to be the more active Pynchon forum on the internet. Same for art bell, your favourite lovely sitcom from ten year ago etc But I have a feeling more of the good internet is sinking from www view because it's all private discords now. Discords and people talking to openai chat.

I think Wordle took off the way it did because it was such an old internet concept and really went contrary to everything every other web game does these days. 1. You had to go to the URL to get to it. It was a standalone site. No app you have to download. 2. No ads, no bullshit, just a clean easy-to-use page. 3. Only one a day. The antithesis of Candy Crush and all that poo poo trying to suck you in endlessly. There was a kinda zen ritual element to it. NYT buying it wasn't even the worst outcome for it, cause at least the standalone site is still there and that dude got paid. But I genuinely think it was a window into what the internet used to be and what it could be again if we just all rejected the corporate, ad-ridden, AI-generated, attention-sucking bullshit out there. We know what it was like once, and we can rebuild it.
