OP first you need to figure out what your posting goals are, then you need to work out a posting strategy, and only then do you incorporate posting techniques that fit in with your overall strategy. You're just asking "what's a good way to post?" when you should be asking "what's a good way to post that gets me what I want?"

Until a couple of years ago my posting technique was to hit the quote button and then delete the quoted text in order to make my post. This is because I didn't know the difference between the post and reply buttons and I didn't want to embarrass myself by perhaps getting it wrong. I still don't know what the post button does.
