It's like 5 minutes, tops, and you do it once in a 30-40 hour campaign.

I'm not gonna fault anyone for disliking the campaign, but... this is in the context of a new player running the campaign vs skipping and getting into a seasonal character right off the rip

It's a good idea to do the campaign for many practical reasons, but more than anything because if you don't like the campaign on your very first time playing the game, you are not going to like Seasonal Mode at all either

Nah killing loads of monsters is great listening to some old geezer while he strolls outside and then you click on two interactable items to get the next line of dialogue? That stinks

3rd street for life
I'm thinking about jumping back in now that it's on gamepass and I maybe can convince some of my friends to play. Is there anything I need to know about the "state of the game" if I haven't played since season 1?

We're kind of mid season in season 3 it looks like so I assume I'll have plenty of time to do anything I would want to do if I start a seasonal guy now. I'll probably start trying to do some new character and then go back to flurry / rapid fire Rogue again assuming it's still at least kind of viable.

My only real complaint with the story is the huge gaping story hole in Caldeum and why Duriel just shows up.

If you can't immerse for 10 minutes in a "we're traveling a dangerous area carefully" storytelling moment then yeah that's on you.

It's accidental brilliance that they just threw Duriel in to SURPRISE MOTHERFUCKER you, it's his brand. They really should've sprung for Andariel and Duriel VAs though. The real gap is Act 4 being about five minutes long, cutting any build up we had for Taissa and then just sending us back for the boss fight. That's probably when we would've gone to the unused entire 1/5th of the world, lol.

Well yeah I get he just sort of shows up to throw down. That's his thing and it landed well: oh poo poo it's duriel.

Could have used an NPC or someone after going "wait who showed up? You loving smushed the bug lord himself to get here?! Shits about to go down if he's here."

I'd argue that it was "done well" because the npc is invulnerable and follows you at your pace, and you can just ignore the mechanics of the npc entirely

Never played Resident Evil 4? :clint: heh got 'em

But seriously, it's not impossible. Bioshock 2 was technically a few good ones too. The camel escort is also kinda cool because if you're going through the campaign blind there's a good chance your gear might suck a bit and the fights are actually dangerous so the relief of the camel refreshing your potions is well paced.

It's a cool foreboding approach to a den of evil.

One of the things I did like about Infinite was how the first time you get in a fight and Elizabeth is there, it straight up puts text on the screen telling you not to worry about her and she can look after herself.

Far cry from Lance fuckin' Vance.

There's a bit of a lampshade on it, though it happens well before. I think it's kinda fun, personally, though I agree a little acknowledgement after the fact would be nice.

Earlier on, Lorath says something about how Elias has all the tools to summon a Lesser Evil, probably Duriel or Andariel. And then you continue on and all the Andariel stuff happens, so if you noted the previous comment you would kinda assume that that's concluded. And then surprise motherfucker! he actually summoned both.

It is largely the same, there is a huge patch coming mid-may with many of the improvements people have been asking for and a large item rework and the what looks like some actual good endgame content. If you wanna excite yo bros consider waiting for S4.

I've been put off by excessive rubber banding. Would have thought that'd be fixed by now. Maybe it's at my end or just the strain of gamepass descending on the game, but, boo.

if you're talking in the kind of zone transition situations, that happens even in the most isolated situations and, at least for me, every time i join a world boss or legion event even without other players present

you can turn off cross play to alleviate some network strain

I don't recall running into it in the last few seasons but I'm guessing game pass is adding a ton of people to the world, especially along the early campaign path

harrygomm

i still regularly experience it while playing on a wired console, crossplay off, HC during off hours, when there are 0 people online in the 'social' tab. it also happens on my steam deck in the same circumstances. Hawezar i find to be particularly bad for whatever reason.

it's been a complaint in various forms since launch. i assume at this point it's a known, WONTFIX along with the various sidequest bugs (don't ever drop quest starter items!), achievement bugs, etc.

D3 can have network lag but it definitely doesn't have the awful rubberbanding around zone transitions like DIV does.
