Calder noted that players can rotate the Paragon board to personalize the overall direction of their endgame upgrades — many of which look like boosts to character stats. Related to the Paragon system is the Codex of Power, through which players can equip Aspects, which can be earned through dungeons. Through Aspects, players can make items they find in Diablo 4’s world more powerful, turning them into legendary-class items. NIGHTMARE DUNGEONS Players can return to dungeons they’ve already played through and modify them with a Sigil. These Sigils, Sweetring explains, will “alter the play style and intensity of a dungeon.” Nightmare Dungeons are more difficult, have additional objectives, and will feature modifiers called Affixes. Piepiora highlighted one of those Affixes: Hellgate, which will randomly open up portals inside of dungeons that summon monsters not native to the region. There are “over 120 dungeons to play through and find in Diablo 4,” Piepiora says, and every one of them can become a Nightmare Dungeon. ENDGAME EXPLORATION The overworld of Diablo 4 will also be modified to include targeted activities in areas called Helltides. Monsters become harder, and new environmental effects, like meteors falling from the sky, will pester players as they try to slay the forces of Hell. There’s also a bounty system centered around a location called the Tree of Whispers, which tasks players with completing bounties in various locations across Sanctuary to earn rewards. These are contained activities that players can do solo or with a group, Blizzard says. THE FIELDS OF HATRED Parts of the world of Sanctuary are poisoned by Lilith’s presence, and when players visit them, they can engage in player-vs-player combat. Players can earn items called shards in PvP, and redeeming them involves a twist: Shards must be “purified” before they can be redeemed back in town, and other players can try to stop you (and steal your shards) on your return journey. That system brings a bit of extraction shooter flavor to Diablo 4. Purified shards can be turned in at towns to purchase special cosmetic reward

It’s wild that you’re running into so many bugs. I’m about to beat the campaign and I haven’t encountered a single bug. Has everyone else had a lot of bugs or is come in! an outlier?

Beat the campaign last night and then rolled a hardcore character. Adventure mode is so good. Having a horse at level 1 is sick.

The legendary aspects I pull off legendary gear seem to have multipliers based on putting them on the "right" sort of gear whereas the codex of power ones don't. Then again, the legendary ones appear to come fixed at a certain power level (based on the item they were on) so I'm not sure how they scale compared to codex ones (which I assume match the level of the gear they're initially applied to?) Yep. Part of the gear grind in D4 is finding better aspects out of gear than what you can get from dungeons.

Making sure I avoid spoilers - I just want to say that the in-game extended cinematic that served as the release date trailer is the coolest video game cinematic I’ve ever seen. It just kept getting more awesome.

I think this form of rebalancing was to be expected. They’ve been touting how proud they are of their ability to rebalance quickly on the fly to address class balance issues ever since the Necro rebalancing during one of the play tests. I think they’re going to do this whenever a particular build is head and shoulders above the rest. Hopefully the effects are less jarring in the future. This is a unique situation in that the theory crafters got that 7-10 day access and were able to figure out insanely OP stuff right before the game first launched.

coelomate posted:welp, I tried an alt to ground renown and discovered some rewards are account bound, but the entire renown system is otherwise reset for each character. Still kinda neat, but not nearly as alt-friendly as I initially thought What stuff isn't account bound? I found that if you start a new character you get the renown reward skill points and potions automatically from level 1. The new character can still redo the renown stuff for XP and gold though.

The in-game cosmetic drops have been a fun surprise. I had no idea they were doing those, but I’ve gotten 2 horse skins and a cool little flag for my horsey.

If you go into the max spirit nodes on the ancestral guidance paragon board and take the max spirit skill point nodes you end up with a lot of spirit, I have 165, and with even a bit of a spirit cost reduction you can pulverize 5-7 times with your spirit maxed, this makes it way more likely you'll get an earthen might proc before you run out. Made the build feel so much better to play for me. Oh, no. I follow guides. I'm following the maxroll pulverize guide. I'll keep that in mind though. Only pulverizing 2-3 times per globe of spirit is frustrating.
