i hope the big wigs at United think getting a GK is "too much to do" on top of what they have to do now, and give De Gea a 2-3 year deal

i don't see how even if arsenal put in a "gently caress negotiations, just give west ham everything they want" offer, that would stop City from going in for Rice as well

So what you're saying is that a contract that runs until 2027 is not long term?

martinez is not a better goalkeeper than ramsdale.

martinez and leno are about equal, so it makes sense to get £20m for one instead of nothing for the other. Neither could play how Arteta wanted anyway, so sell the sellable asset.

eddie is much better than balogun, so it's not shocking that arteta wants to keep the former and not the latter.

Just Chamber posted:

"Much better" is a big stretch. Nketiah has proven he can score a couple of goals in the prem but otherwise he's pretty bad if you watch him week after week. Balogun wasnt given a chance because 1) he doesnt want to be backup to Jesus which Nketiah is happy to be because he knows his level and 2) Arsenal likely need to bring in a bit of money after spending a ton and Arteta has said his squad is much too big.

Edit: A big problem with Eddie and why he isnt great imo, is if you're going to be the type of striker that doesnt enable other players, you need to be clinical, and he is 100% not that. Jesus is also not clinical, but he's a different type of striker, he scores sometimes but he also creates a bunch, and you see that with Martinelli who plays incredibly well with Jesus feeding him and others chances unlike the games with Nketiah. So yea, if you're going to have a more traditional striker, you really need someone who can put away a good percentage of those chances. I would have loved to see Balogun at least given a run in preseason to see if he could be that but Arteta knew Jesus was going to start and Balogun would not be happy on the bench so hence why he's off.

if you watched Balogun play for Reims, and you watched Nketiah play for Arsenal, you would very much realise why Arteta prefers one over the other.
Nketiah is the superior player, even if Baloguns americanness leads to some biases.

He was one of their best player along with Saka, Leno and Smith Rowe in that season they sucked hard with Unai sacking. Super consistent player, played almost every minute of that season. He is very good defensively but he doesn't have the technical skill to play inverted fullback which is popular these days.

i meant balogun. Tierney has been a good servant for many years, but it's depressing to see him not being even seen as an option anymore.
