I wouldn't be too surprised if Kane signed an extension with a release clause. He's entitled to leave on a free but it wouldn't be the best look

notaspy posted:I hate to do this but they only have 2 top quality midfielders in Enzo and Moises, which isn't enough if you want to challenge City or Arsenal (god I feel dirty saying that). Gallagher wants to stay and fight for his place and no one is offering enough money to tempt Chelsea to sell, especially with Nkunku injured and Mount and Havertz gone. First choice midfield 3 is Nkunku/Enzo/Caicedo which should be top 4 quality. 2nd choice is Gallagher, Lavia, and probably Chukwuemeka. Tho Santos and Ugochukwu might get minutes as well. It's not going to beat City but I don't think that's an attainable goal right now.

hadji murad posted:I’d have liked to keep Mount, that was a major gently caress up. The Kepa thing is inexcusable. They gave Newcastle a sweetheart deal to help *them* with FFP and god knows our own situation. And getting rid of academy players is incredibly discouraging. If the solution to the striker situation is buying Balogun for 50 million Im just going to pack it in for the season and watch cycling instead. It seems like Mount wanted out pretty bad, but yes it sucks that he and the club couldn't find a way to make it work. At the same time having Nkunku, Chukwumeka, Gallagher and Enzo means there's plenty of talent to replace him. Kepa was an expensive mistake who's an average keeper at best and a liability at worst. He wanted to leave for Madrid and getting his ridiculous wages off the books was a win. Hall leaving sucks, but if Poch doesn't see him as a midfielder then there wasn't really a place for him in the squad. From my napkin math the loan with an option to buy also helps Chelsea as they've already made enough in sales for 2023-24, now they have £28m income for 2024-25 to help balance the books.
