Someone asked me how do you do the Trump routine without acknowledging the big lie, which is admittedly hard. But DeSantis needed to come out and just say, Trump lost. His personality and mental fortitude caused him to lose and we need to accept that. Yah, he would of lost some of the base but he would of distinguished himself from the field and got press for standing out in the field.

As it stands there is nothing to distinguish him from Trump.

Did he mean to say that Biden is doing better than Trump would? Seems like Biden would be doing both better and worse by default considering Russia invaded Ukraine in 2022.

quote:

Democrats and Republicans far apart on how US should help Ukraine

The survey finds broad partisan and ideological divides over how much the US should be doing to assist Ukraine’s efforts to push back the Russian military campaign.

Republicans broadly say that Congress should not authorize new funding (71%) and that the US has done enough to assist Ukraine (59%). Among Democrats, most say the opposite, 62% favor additional funding and 61% say that the US should do more.
Within both parties, there are splits by ideology. On providing additional funding, liberal Democrats are far and away the most supportive, 74% back it compared with 51% of moderate or conservative Democrats. Among Republicans, about three-quarters of conservatives oppose new funding (76%)

Again, whatever you personally believe about the war, it is not popular amongst the only people who matter in a primary.

Chris Christie's base is in the ~1/3 of poll respondents who think the US should do more to support Ukraine. If he were doing nothing to differentiate himself from the front runners he would be going nowhere even more than he already is, the reason Desantis' polling numbers have been dropping is that he's losing voters who want to vote against Trump.

I'm pretty sure that rather than being a grift for money, Christie's campaign is a grift to get cameras on him so he can criticize Trump more. I mean, it isn't going to get him the win, or probably even a particularly close loss, but he is going to have a lot of I Told You So cred after Trump gets convicted and loses the election.

It at least makes him memorable compared to the other no-hopers.

Didn't Christie say his entire campaign is to hurt Trump?

Christie realizes that any hopes he has towards president were destroyed by Trump, now he will Destroy Trump back

And Christie has an advantage in being a fat man who accepts that he is fat and is willing to use that against Trump who is a fat man who is not accepting of his body.

Ron DeSantis - in his new more relatable and human form - is having his wife give interviews to stress his humility and compassion.

The two examples she gave of his humility and compassion during their 14-year marriage were:

1) He took her out to dinner as a surprise in 2014.

2) After she was diagnosed with breast cancer, he would pick up their kids from school on days when her cancer treatment was scheduled at the same time as their kids' school or sports.

quote:

TRENTON, N.J. — A $225 million deal between Gov. Chris Christie's administration and Exxon Mobil over dozens of polluted sites and nearly 2,000 retail gas stations was approved by a New Jersey judge on Tuesday.

Superior Court Judge Michael Hogan ruled that the deal is much less than the $8.9 billion the state originally sought, but a "reasonable compromise" considering the "substantial litigation risks" faced by the state in the 11-year-old case that spanned Democratic and Republican governors.

The tldr is that new jersey was going to get almost 9 billion from polluters who turned that state into a tire fire, and Christie swooped in and gave them a 97% discount on the charge.

Christie's a vile poo poo but he's by far my favorite candidate this time around Which is a bit like saying chlamydia is my favorite STD, because he's the only one willing to roll around in muck with Trump rather than breathlessly defend him while wishing he would go away such as notable 2016 presidential candidate ... Chris Christie.

The dude is a muppet, he laughs like a muppet throwing his head back with his mouth wide open, he didn't even console her when she was crying and she reached out for his hand, it just feels like a poor masquerade of humanity.

My husband heard that interview without seeing the visuals, and he had no idea that was a husband and wife talking. And it's VERY telling when someone uses language like that, he picked up "my kids". I bet she uses the phrase "he babysat" when he is alone with the kids. Just gross, creepy stuff.

One thing I don't think gets brought up nearly enough is that DeSantis was personally involved in the Guantanamo torture project, advising among other things about how best to force feed prisoners. He's a monster and in a sane country (I know, I know) he'd be kept in close confinement because he genuinely poses a threat to other humans.
