the religious stuff sometimes gets weird but the whole call to service thing is a big part of who he is and why he does what he does / has done what he's done and then that snowballs into some other stuff he got done dirty over iraq, and he's legitimately insightful if often depressing. I feel like he colors in the doom nicely even if he may not have fixes for it. but, most importantly my grampa liked his work a lot
