I'm tagging this tech because internet/app stuff does this all the time for the last few years but welcome to hear anything getting worse purely for The Algorithm or other dumb reasons

--the "images" button on Google is now placed randomly in a list of hashtags they think you should click
--almost every streaming service puts "continue watching" behind the fold (makes you go find it by hitting down)

Why is there even a shopping button anymore?

YouTube search gives you maybe one or two results directly related to your search, the rest are very vaguely related, and there's no way to simply request more results for the words you searched. This is at least true on my TV's app. Videos I used to be able to look up by name don't even show up any more without like adding the account name. :wtc:

Not specific, but every time there is a small company gets known doing/making something good and well it then get brought up by a large multinational and within two years at most they're been effectively closed down and the multinational is just using their name to sell what ever crap the multinational always sells.

New exciting change as of tonight which is tiny but annoying, opening videos from youtube into a new tab with middle click no longer works when clicking on the video thumbnail, it now requires you to do it on the title. It's probably a firefox exclusive issue, because google goes out of their way to sabotage firefox, a 70 market share is not enough; it's also much higher than 70 if you consider that most remaining alternatives are chromium-derived.

youtube still recommends loving blippi videos despite having cleared my history and never even having watched one. one autoplayed for one second before i stopped it. it's going to make me quit the internet entirely. just seeing the thumbnails makes me want to rip everything in the room apart like an ape. i made the special effort to clear the poo poo and it's still there.

i've read the "enshittification" article, and understanding why everything sucks doesn't help matters. i'm calling it now. the internet is over. email to your relatives and friends is on thin ice but the internet is cooked

not sure, I suspect there are regulations about how deeply you have to clean machinery between milk containing batches and milk free batches and it was too much effort so they just made milk an official ingredient to avoid allergy issues

you would think if you just put a random or obscure word straight into google the first result would always be the dictionary but no it will in fact be some software company that calls itself by that word, a shopping website tagged 'advert' followed by that same shopping website not tagged as 'advert' and then reddit, which is dying

So in the best case you as a vegan are paying them to operate machinery used to process materials of animal nature.

Every aspect of every transaction down at the store taking just that little bit longer because all that information has to go to the goddamn mothership out in space and back as it happens before each step of the transaction can proceed. Yeah but avocado purchases rise by 0.3% on every third Wednesday of the month. We need to set our team on this, and really dig deep into the detail on where it came from. We'll put so much time and energy into it, and by 2030, it will go up to 0.4.

A Google query for "define:word" will try to give a result from the Oxford dictionary if it can, I think.

They did the same thing on the pixel and it sucks. Not to mention that since it's under the screen it works inconsistently if I have a screen protector on.

We use Microsoft Dynamics for CRM and in the previous version the “Save” and “Save and Close” buttons were right next to each other, which makes sense.

In the latest release they moved “Save and Close” to a drop down under “Save” and the button next to “Save” is “Close as Lost” which definitely didn’t cause any issues when everyone’s muscle memory went there to save and close.
