I heard that the sub has no seats and a single toilet.

Like why. I'd think these fucks would insist on a toilet and bidet each.

I never even thought about the shape of the sub being an issue, but you goons are right, regular submarines don't go that deep when they're tube shape, they have to be spherical.

At least they died doing what they loved, being crammed into a small space smelling of human fear, human feces, and no poor people in sight.

Many years ago when I could still scuba dive, the deepest I ever went on a deep water dive was 100 ft down. And I remember looking up and realizing just how far 100 ft was and that if something happened, I was totally boned because I would have to stop periodically to decompress so I didn't get the bends and just dropped dead. Almost everything in the ocean is totally happy if you do that though. I don't know if there's any deeper open water dives that people can scuba dive to, but 100 ft down was definitely far enough for me. I only went once or twice, and then decided any future diving would just be to 30 or 40 ft Max. Then of course one of my eardrums got damaged what I wasn't in the water, and now I can't dive at all. But that's okay. I could be on that submarine instead.

At what point was the sub actually lost? Was it Sunday or Saturday? Talking with the co-worker who just doesn't understand how they can't find it because don't subs have GPS on them? Because you know the ocean is small enough that GPS is going to be accurate 🙂

Somewhere James Cameron is both salivating at this, and thinking, man. I know what Avatar 4 is going to be about. The deep seas of Pandora.

He will then invent or use enough deep sea subs to film everything on location.

Seriously, if there was anyone who could find these people it would totally be James Cameron. But I don't think he has any interest in it.

Also, didn't some scientists say that the Titanic would be totally gone in a few years?

Sound is weird under water. I mean just because you hear banging from "around there" doesn't mean it's where you think it is.

The Titan set out on its expected 9-hour round-trip expedition from 400 miles off the coast of St John's, Newfoundland, around 8 AM Sunday. The submersible's last contact with the Polar Prince, which provided coordination communication from the surface, was around 9:45 AM.

Despite being unable to reach the Titan from that point forward, OceanGate waited to report the submersible as missing when it failed to return to the surface around 5:40 PM, nearly 8 hours later.

Anyone who's worn an SCBA knows that you have x minutes of rated oxygen and about 30% of that under any real exertion. Between the panic, screaming, banging, and murdering Stockton Rush, I'm sure they ran out early.

This is very true.

I remember one of the last times I dove, and it was in super shallow water, but there were a gently caress ton of rocks around, and a bunch of long spine urchins moving around them. My dive buddy had no problem getting around the rocks, but I found myself falling behind. Now this was stupid shallow, like 6 feet, but I had to get into trained slow breathing mode so I didn't panic and get stabbed if I went too low, or hit by rocks if the waves pushed me too high. This was a full loving tank, in bright rear end daylight, with a trained dive buddy.

Those dudes? Yeah that oxygen doesn't last long if you start screaming.

I like to imagine if there are ghosts on the Titanic, they're watching this tube bounce around and sink. Eventually the 5 ghosts will make it over to the ship, desperate to finally see it. Only to be asked for their boarding passes, and then sent away.

This entire thing reads like a million dollar NAILED IT. Like, it LOOKS easy to make a sub because how many of us can make a little boat sink in the bathtub? And it bounces right back up! Or for the more manually inclined, go swim in a lake and then the ocean; it's just a matter of a weight belt so you sink the right level. So put weights on a boat that is all closed up, it can't be harder than that!

Clearly if there were less regulations, this would be a thing of the past! Who's next to try and scour not only the wreckage of the Titanic, but to rescue this fine and not at all flattened out carbon fiber donut? Is it okay to call it a long John? A cream filled long John.

yeah i know it was James Cameron's Titanic, but watching some clips of the ship breaking apart and sinking and the sheer terror of it all, especially as the lights start flickering and people are just leaping to their death. it's a loving movie but it is so goddamn well done i get scared and teary-eyed because gently caress, this happened, people died and there was no hope for many of them.

and this is what these five people wanted to see. the barebones of where a good few hundred people died. and they died in terror and suffering, unlike these rich fucks.

imagine if poo poo like the Nazi concentration camps were off limits to the general public, but you cooooould go if you paid a lot of money. it's loving ghoulish. look at me, i saw where a lot of people died! oh, you saw it in a movie? Pft, low class.

it is kinda sad the CEO was on board. I'd love to see him try to explain this poo poo away.
