I haven't paid a lot of attention to Garf since I was a kid, but this gives me the feeling that whenever it became possible, the strip workflow was converted to use a set of pre-drawn vector components for characters and environments that can be drag-n-dropped together

But perhaps I am rudely and unnecessarily besmirching the skilled pen of Jim Davis

Arabiolosis sounds like a movement alright... a regionally specific term for bowel movement

Anyone looking for a job? If so, you should consider being THE INTEGRATOR:

This is a Harvard Business Review article hotlinked from Nathen's bio but the bio itself seems to imply that Nathen is in need of someone to fulfill this role for him. Are you a bad enough dude to INTEGRATE Nathen?

There's gotta be a calculus joke in here someplace... like he's obviously easy enough to integrate by substituting with a large language model, clearly nobody will even notice

Hey now, that first bowel movement of the day can be quite disruptive, depending on what I ate last night

Yeah, bulk Montreal steak seasoning would be something available from a restaurant supplier. McCormick sells it everywhere. Hardly a low-sodium option!

Why is this image taking from a 90's webcam??? Also how is this page so ugly? Anyway this is all meant to be powered by AI and ML (machine learning!!!!) None of his team have any experience with it. The one IT person expertise is leading IT teams in system integration projects, which actually surprisingly sounds semi useful for this sort of consulting work maybe.

Fascinating that the best investment capital Nathen could line up is apparently... an expert in airline bankruptcies???

Judging by how long these sort of buzzwords remain the hottest topic, we still got like six to none more month or AI being everything.

It will probably stay around a bit longer then other buzzwords as I think this one landed particular hard with the corporate types as if you squint through corporate management eyes it does seem to be offering you a chance to fire like 99% of people in any particular organisation if they can just get it right.

Unlike things like block chain and cloud, this one is much easier for management types to actually visualize how it can make them a poo poo load of money (basically by being a genie that wrinkles it's nose and magically solves all problems).

Meredith Whittaker who's president of the Signal messaging service had a really great article a few months back outlining how the desire for cheap, pliant labor means that "AI" as a generic concept is inherently something that capitalists will always jump at:

https://logicmag.io/supa-dupa-skies/origin-stories-plantations-computers-and-industrial-control/

The technology being called "AI" this go-round clearly can't fulfill its hype, much like blockchain, but ideology means it's automatically going to get buy-in.
