people told me to train my new recruits in kenshi by having them fight prisoners with blunt weapons so it's safe

well a prisoner just used a blunt weapon to tear off my recruit's arm with one swing

I think I just lucked out getting a prisoner this powerful, the entire rest of the base barely managed to contain him afterwards, we only KO'd him when he attacked because we had 6 harpoon guns and his pathfinding was broken

also I stole a robot arm and gave it to him, I know about the peeler method but I think it's cooler if the robot limbs come naturally.

the mystery is really just a way to get you to meet several different classes of people and see all the underlying conflicts in that society and how it evolves over time. I'm not a big murder mystery guy so that bit never bothered me.

I do think that Fallout: New Vegas definitely is the better RPG of the 3D Fallouts, but yeah, it is weird how people have turned it into this rose emoji banner when there's no actual anti-capitalism in it either. Its fine to like things that aren't purely socialist, so I don't know why people need to do mental jujitsu to say that going down the Yes Man route means the Courier will implement socialism in the Mojave, rather than things being run by the gleefully capitalist ex-tribals that House brought in to run the casinos.

It makes sense that a world where communism isn't an option just continuously destroys itself while just changing the names of the factions doing the destroying.

And communism isn't an option because you're living in the remains of an ultra capitalist US where McCarthyism lasted 200 years and then everything got bombed back to the stone age. There's no chance anyone would find remnants of that ideology anywhere that isn't silly chinese ghoul soldiers.

There is a chinese ghoul soldier in Fallout 4. You can ree at him for being an evil red or help him out because its the nice thing to do. The entire minutemen plotline is doing mutual aid to other people who pay it forward, even mechanically. The last remnant of prewar US institutions explicitly does colonialism and slavery to maintain their higher standards of living.

None of this poo poo matters because its a goofy videogame where you can maximize your luck so you can punch people in their head and coca cola bottlecaps fly out of their rectums.

in my playthroughs the minutemen are just post apocalypse NATO, I allied with every settlement just to put artillery there and have the ability to call airstrikes anywhere in the commonwealth.

in OS2 we all decided to play as skeletons
I spent a good amount of time raising my relations with all the traders in Driftwood to max so I could get better deals

after a boss fight one of my friends went back to the city to check new gear but accidentally unequipped his boots, making the guards attack him
since I had good relations with several traders, they joined in the fight on our side

the end result was that the entire town fell into civil war even after he left, we waited around for a few minutes and when we came back there were corpses and blood from one end of the city to the other

I never really enjoyed PVP in souls games as anything but a complete circus built around roleplaying.

The most fun I've had was equipping a set of giant armor +5, using ironflesh and trying to punch people to death in the Depths. When people saw their backstabs dealt 50 damage they had a tendency to panic and kill themselves on traps
