I went down a tiny rabbit hole of videos made by Jim Blashfield. Not a really well known name, but his video effects he popularized basically created what we would now associate with the mid 80s aesthetic. It's that combination of compositing and early digital tech. The best example, IMO is ''I Can't Wait' by Nu Shooz, which seems to be in some sort of modern resurgence in popularity. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UJ1tBVtYOBc Links to other videos by him: Talking Heads - And She Was Joni Mitchell - Good Friends Paul Simon - The Boy In The Bubble Peter Gabriel & Kate Bush - Don't Give Up (Version 2) Michael Jackson - Leave Me Alone Tears For Fears - Sowing The Seeds Of Love Then the dude came back in the mid 2000s to do a video for Weird all, called Pancreas which is something of a Beach Boys parody... That's what he came out of retirement for. Further work and reading on his wikipedia page If you want. Busters fucked around with this message at 08:36 on Jun 26, 2023 |
