Is "randomly sends unprompted button presses to the console" a common PS3 controller defect? It's happening with both the ones I own. Like every so often it'll just act like I smashed my palm into the face buttons.

Well I did take the controller half apart, sprayed some canned air in the bits, and put it back together. So far it's been OK, knock on wood.

Remember all those games from like the 7th generation that got advertised all over the place and really hyped up that were all really bad and nobody really played them? Like Kane and Lynch, Dante's Inferno, Wet, Army of Two, stuff like that?
