Hmm, I guess I feel skeptical about Duat members being Pratchett fans. Pratchett stories always end with justice upheld and the good guys winning. I can’t imagine Yi is stupid enough to think he’s a good guy. I suppose I can see just him being a Ventinari fan, but not the lower level guys.

While all these perspectives don’t have to take place at a particular date, they’re clearly at least close to each other in time. I just don’t see how they could possibly have had enough time to do everything. Maybe they didn’t sleep?

Well, I did not see that coming. It’s very “Thane”, but I don’t think it’s very “Mercury”. But I guess that’s the whole point.

I’m not sure if it’s been officially called out yet, but my money’s on Ez being Mercury, with contacts to change her eye color.

I think someone else will beat Bach to the governorship. He’s a nice guy but he’s already been taken advantage of multiple times. Weirdly I’m leaning toward Krish.

I think it’ll be left ambiguous, with Baldera considering using the card, but we don’t know the final outcome. As to happy? I don’t think that’s going to apply. Nancy escapes, but they can’t just put down the conman’s life. The city will survive - probably with a little gang activity and corruption, but less than before. I guess that’s happy?

Why is Ez contacting Mercury about…monkeys? At first I thought it was a Dragon/Monkey from the first game, but Ez has a singular purple streak, so I think it’s supposed to be her.

I think I enjoyed the first game more, which is interesting. Death games are such an overdone genre, yet Zodiac was really masterfully played out. It took advantage of your genre expectations while still delivering a great story. The twist of having all the iterations be theoretical is so perfect I can’t believe it wasn’t done before, and then it becomes amazing as you watch all these careful plans go off the rails. This game didn’t quite have the same magic to it. The different viewpoints style is is somewhat unique, but the big twist of having them all be the same person just didn’t surprise me in the same way. I didn’t exactly see it coming, but it didn’t seem clever, just impractical. Even aside from some faces being assholes, because we don’t spend a lot of time with Mercury while they’re not putting on a face, it’s hard to care for them as themselves. Yet somehow by not being real people, any care you had for any of the roles just kind of evaporates. I’m mildly interested in what happens to, say, Polly after the story, but I’m not interested in what happens to Thane, because I know that nothing does. They stop existing. So in the end, there’s almost no one left to be invested in. And that makes the whole story hollow.
