Leon's tips for proper phone usage:

"Hey, I think I found the president's daughter." - good, good. Concise, informative, professional.

"Attacked by a zombie" - unimportant, irrelevant. Better not bother anyone with.

Just wanted to point out the guy throwing the axe hits his friend who put down the bear trap in the back of the head.

But he gets justice a few seconds later, when axe guy steps in the bear trap.

That trapdoor in the saferoom is actually a neat piece of design.

It makes sure the player finds both a save point and clues to the next section of the game. It even builds tension as you know there's some sort of monster waiting for you in the cave.

Resident Evil is exactly the sort of game where I'd expect doing this would drain the fuel and you have to go back and get another jerry can.

Leon's looking surprisingly nervous at the end for someone who's just wiped out several small villages worth of people, a fish the size of a bus, and a cow-eating toddler.

Just wanted to add that I was the kid who got confused by Sauron/Saruman when I first read the books. Aruman would have helped immensely.

There were so many names to remember I just started glossing over them all. So when Saruman did the big face turn and everyone was shocked, it confused the hell out of me because I thought everyone knew he was evil.

To be fair though, I was probably about 8 or 9.

The story ends with him back at home, recovered from his madness, and basically dying a sad man in his bed who regretted causing everyone problems. Kind of a downer ending, but the rest of it is pretty good comedy.

Better than the stage play and film where he's dragged off and tortured by the Inquisition.

I feel like I missed something here - that boat with Ada ride wasn't in the lake where Moby Carp was, was it?

Going from a lovely village, to a castle to a research facility then a big mining area filled with military types is just such a harsh cut.

But it's still all owned by the local vampire plagas king who's controlling everyone?

(and yet the whole massive underground techno-empire in RE: Village never made me bat an eye for some reason)

Thanks for that, it cleared it up a lot. Like ChaosArgate sayd, the game is definitely a "Here are the set pieces, stitch them together in the cutscenes, I don't care how"

quote:

I believe that Salazar is the local royalty (presumably prince regent?), but the guy with the actual influence is Sadler.

This is another thing which was tripping me up. I'm sure it's a rule of fiction to never have your bad guys' names start with the same letter. And, if not, it should be.

I had the same problem as a young child reading Lord of the Rings, with Sauron and Saruman.

I love when a character suddenly can jump 10m straight up out of nowhere in cutscenes when, in the rest of the game, a grandma in a mobility walker can jump further than they can.

This is usually balanced out by characters dying to a single bullet in cutscenes when, in the rest of the game, they can eat bullets fired directly into their face like they were candy.
