Laws of The New Republic Of Maine:

- Lobster bibbs will immediately be outlawed. Eat like an adult, with some respect.
- French Canadians will be allowed to continue living within designated zones within Maine, under the governance of the Canadian government.
- French Canadians will be continue to be allowed entry, but may be forced to leave at any time for any reason. Example include failure to tip servers, rudeness, loud hon-hon-hon-ing, etc.
- Beaches are for residents only August 15 - October 1st.
- The "pledge of allegiance" will be replaced with a daily televised public shaming of Paul LePage, shown to all schools every morning.
- The Capital will be moved from Digusta to Portland.
- A wall will be erected on the border of New Hampshire. NH residents will not be permitted entry without a state permitted chaperone, and only on official business. Any spouting of NH political beliefs will result in immediate deportation.
- Diversity programs will incentivize people of all cultures to move to Maine so it's not so god damned white.

Can't think of a single Mainer I've ever met that gave a poo poo. We were always too busy stacking firewood and freezing to death to care about anything Massachusetts did.

We do get made when they invade our state for "leaf peeping", but people in Maine don't ever seem to get all that mad about much.

What would happen if you just drove up to those roads in northwestern maine that are owned by logging companies and tried to cross into canada? Would anyone stop you?
We used to do some camping up there, and would go down those roads. There's generally enough room to pull off to the side when trucks come by. If you don't get out of the way, I've heard stories of people getting run off the road, but that was back in the 80s when running people off the road wouldn't result in someone grabbing your place number with their phone and you going to prison.

Being a real Mainer I have of course a long standing relationship with Stephen King. He's awesome by the way.

I met him when I was real little, a few years before he got sober. I don't really remember it, I think I was like 4 or 5, but it was at some pub up near sunday river. Aparently I pretty terrified of him, which was unusual for me as a kid. My mom chalked it up to him being steven king, but when I heard the story years later I surmized that I was probably just freaked out because he was drunk and coked out, something I thinkfully hadn't been exposed to.

Glad he got his poo poo together, though glad it happened after he wrote It because holy poo poo....

I read a history of my town written in 1880 and he describes the process to create the first road and to name the town as a months long process, as the townsfolk had to travel to Boston which took months each way.

Is 94.3 WCYY still cool? That was always my station living there.

Also, I kind quit buying much bean poo poo. A lot of their quality just doesn't seem there anymore, and I was fine paying high prices for their stuff because of their awesome return policy, but once they did away with that, they kinda lost me. Also, Linda Bean is a loving Chud so that sucks. All that said, its toally worth going to freeport, and the amount that that company does for that town is awesome.

What is this choice vote something or other that y'all talk about?

Also, good to hear that Stephen King, while weird, is good and has yet to be accused of being a sex pest/anit-gay/ racist etc...

My grade 7 teacher was from Maine and apparently had a cousin who was an actress who worked on one of his movies (don't remember which one) but maybe that was more of a "yeah I'm from (place that famous person is from) and my cousin/friend's dad/friend of friend knows (famous person)" .

Ranked Choice Voting, allows us to vote multiple ways each election. Example: I vote the Democrat 1, I vote the independent 2, I don't vote for the Republican or I vote him 3. When it comes time to count the votes they will count my first vote as a vote for my guy, but my second and third votes are also counted and could come back to matter, if the election were close.

Stephen King is awesome.

As a Masshole I remember LePage well.

New York Times posted:

In January, LePage told a crowd in Bridgton that drug dealers are “guys by the name D-Money, Smoothie, Shifty.”

“These type of guys that come from Connecticut and New York. They come up here, they sell their heroin, then they go back home,” he said. “Incidentally, half the time they impregnate a young, white girl before they leave. Which is the real sad thing, because then we have another issue that we have to deal with down the road.”

Last week, LePage said he keeps a three-ring binder of the mugshots of every drug dealer arrested in Maine, of which, 90 percent are black or Hispanic and from Waterbury, the Bronx, or Brooklyn. After a state representative called his comments racist, LePage called the man a socialist and a “cocksucker,” and told him to make the recording public. He did.
