I own several versions of Rubber Soul on different formats including 8-track. I don’t even own an 8-track player, but it’s cool to have the tape. I’ve even got a rare Canadian CD that mistakenly had the original 1965 stereo mixes on it instead of the 1987 digital mixes George Martin did when The Beatles first appeared on CD. I prefer listening to the album in mono, but I couldn’t pass up the original stereo mixes, I remember listening to my dad’s original mono copy of the Capitol version of Rubber Soul on record and really enjoying it. I prefer the American “folk” version of the album, but I can see what people see in the UK version. It’s my favorite album of theirs, if you couldn’t tell.

This song goes hard and heavy as poo poo in 1954 and it sucks balls this dude isn’t really mentioned among guitar pioneers/greats. Shredding, feedback, reverb, and it’s all done with his thumb, I think. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5gJg7_FgVTI And here’s an alternate version that goes just as hard: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P2n5PLwMy7w

Marty Robbins also made a hard-rear end country song when the bass’s equipment had a bad vacuum tube that turned it into the first distorted fuzz tone on record. Guitar pedals mimic that sound because of this recording. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q2WBBcH6OPU Marty Robbins owns.
