It's kinda funny after all these years the rating board decided to go back and upgrade this terrifying film to PG. Well done bureaucrats!

also gently caress that Netflix series what a travesty ugh

I honestly thought this was gonna be about it having a PG rating because it came out before PG-13 was a thing

It's just my personal copy of the book, sharing in case anyone doesn't know the story.

Oh it's just about rabbits. Nope not at all.

I used to have an older copy...

Sure it is. I saw the move. It had rabbits in it

Yeah before PG-13 was invented, you could get away with a lot in a PG movie. Splash, Dragonslayer, and Poltergeist really pushed the limits of PG. I think Temple of Doom was the last straw that got the MPAA to make a new rating.

Now it's all strictly regimented. The MPAA will let you have exactly one F bomb in a PG-13 movie and it can't refer to sex. The violence can be pretty intense as long as you're a big name director like Spielberg or Nolan.

"What the gently caress was that all about?" - PG-13

"My wife's been loving the poolboy!" - instant R

Poltergeist. That was the third one I couldn't remember. Spielberg produced that and Gremlins and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. Those three were the cause of PG-13. Look it up. Steven Spielberg is solely responsible for the PG-13 rating. What a loving hero
