I'm replaying FF6 rn the Pixel Remaster and getting all the trophies, the one where you have to land a Joker's Death on enemies sucked Also I finished FF16 not too long ago and it ruled!!! Wow!!

I wish they would go back to menu battles. I never really got into the more modern systems like in 15 / Xenoblade etc Octopath is pretty good but could use a more fantastical story 8 was peak because outta nowhere the moon starts puking monsters on the world

He has come out recently and basically said that myth is overblown and that it's "Final Fantasy" because he wanted something catchy like "FF" for the game's acronym. His first choice was "Fighting Fantasy" but it was already held up in licensing, so they went with Final Fantasy as their next choice. There's a really good retrospective on the first 6 games on the FF youtube channel right now where Sakaguchi gets tipsy and talks about a lot of fun stuff about the games' development, I recommend it.
