just learned that the retro games subforum qualifies everything up through the ps3 era as retro they could be posting about skyrim, dark souls, and nu xcom in there and we wouldn't even know those games are all 10+ years and two console generations old

got a random neomail message of a user identifying themselves as the owner of a former account, saying they can't remember anything since they had a stroke. I've been messaging them back but I'm not understanding them sometimes. I also don't know why they messaged me. I can't think of a way this is a scam and they've asked for nothing.

Also God bless my fellow Wing voters for best Kirby Power. It looks sick, flying with wings has a fun rhythm, and command dashes and command grabs are loving awesome. It's one of those powers that lets you know Sakurai really likes King of Fighters.

Finally thinking I've got a grasp on the war system in Old World. I set a good group of units up outside a city site I see Greece is about to colonize. They've got far less units and the city will be at the end of their empire, I'm thinking I smash and grab. Kill a goodly portion of their army, get a free city, and then hold until I can peace them out. My leader has got a ton of courage and he's gotten all my families under control and some good generals for my troops. They settle, I declare war, take out two of their warriors and end turn. Then it all goes to poo poo. My brother and heir has my leader assassinated. I lose favor with all my houses, my heir has terrible stats and I'm immediately in a major deficit of Training, Iron, and Gold, plus now all my generals are mad that instead of being lead by am inspirational hero they're being lead by a coward and a glutton. Worse, Greece rushes more units from a city below my own that I didn't even know he settled, split I have to break off my siege of his city to defend my capital. I try to rush more units only to quickly exhaust my gold supply. I eventually got peace after fifteen turns of totally pointless fighting with nothing gained for me, my economy ruined, and my leader somehow with worse stats than he started. If you're gonna start. Make more units than you think you need, and then make more than that. And watch out for useless fail heirs with an ax to grind.

Persona Q Not the best nusona soundtrack but still goes hard, and for a game that could best be described as massively flawed and in truth should be described as an execrable slog

 U.N. Sqaudron/Area 88 ftw Still have the famicon cartridge my dad got while stationed in Japan and he "modified" so it can play on an SNES. Wild to find out it was licensed game for a manga years later.
