This hasn’t been my experience. If you want the dusty look pigments gives you, varnish will kill it immediately. Pigment fixers help but also kill the dusty look. In my experience, after gaming with models for years, the majority of their pigments are still in place. Applied as the very last step, especially after varnishes.

I would also add micro set advises doing that dabbing with a slightly damp paper towel, and once I started doing that I had waaaay more success. When it’s bone dry it’s way too ‘sticky’ and can grab that decal too easily.

I'm often surprised with how weird people are over 40k. We play Necromunda almost exclusively, and I'm yet to find a freak over years of playing. I think specialist games attract people who just love the settings and want to make cool stuff. I dunno.

Indeed, the people who whinge about how the culture is too woke or whatever are normally doing it over animated 40K or dawn of war videos on YouTube, earning GW exactly $0. Or they’ve long since bought a 3D printer and are endlessly commenting on how they’ll never buy another GW model. Again, earning them exactly $0. They have literally nothing to lose by not acknowledging them.
