I wonder how this would've affected the US' trajectory. It probably would've just been a new stepping stone between 9/11 and the invasions of Iraq and Afghanistan, but it's interesting to consider what would've happened if they US had gone after a weaker opponent.

1/2 the country has done a pretty good job resisting a large international coalition including the USA so I'm not sure a unified Yemen is a much weaker opponent. I guess Iran might not have been in as good a position to support them or may not have been keen.
