My Dad banned it in our house, I think he objected to the crassness of it. We were too young to understand it or really care. My parents considered banning the Simpsons but they thought it was too funny to deprive us of it.

Al became very Homer SImpson-like, where he was just a normal guy that made bad choices and but then turned into a parody as the seasons went on. Actually, Al predates Homer. Hmmm I loved this show especially when Anthrax was on. The Christmas episode were the mall Santa falls from a place into their backyard is good too. They went really too far with Peg's redneck family and Seven.

As if I didn't know what MWC wasn't about. It was one of those shows that my dad watched l, so we all had to watch it. Despite the numerous issues with the show in this day and age, i do like that they dedicated an episode to Amanda Bearse coming out. Even if it was a few years after the fact. Even though the episode was based around Marcy's identical cousin instead of the anonymous sister that was vaguely mentioned a couple of times.

When Ed O'Neill auditioned for Al, apparently everyone else was doing it like older sitcoms, with Al as a boisterous loud shouty a-hole. And Ed saw him as a defeated man. Just a sad sack waiting for the next shovel full of dirt to be tossed onto his casket.
