Basically a proto incel. How you'd imagine them to be if they didn't use computers to the point of not even having an email address or social media to communicate with each other.

Was Seven part of the “it was all a dream” season or was he real and just dumped between episodes?

Seven was real and just dumped, though later there were some jokes about his disappearance. And he was actually introduced after the dream pregnancy; I guess they really wanted a new character but quickly realized it was a bad idea.

This was a fun trip down memory lane, thanks for the link!

The one thing the creator forgot to mention was the absurd toilet humor, as in Al’s obsession with making GBS threads and toilets in general.

My Dad banned it in our house, I think he objected to the crassness of it. We were too young to understand it or really care. My parents considered banning the Simpsons but they thought it was too funny to deprive us of it.

Al became very Homer SImpson-like, where he was just a normal guy that made bad choices and but then turned into a parody as the seasons went on. Actually, Al predates Homer. Hmmm

I loved this show especially when Anthrax was on. The Christmas episode were the mall Santa falls from a place into their backyard is good too.

They went really too far with Peg's redneck family and Seven.

The idiot husband with the hot wife is quite the trope, MWC didn't invent it nor The Simpsons.

I keep thinking about the episode "Nooner Or Later" when Peggy enters a radio competition where women have to make their husbands do embarrassing things. One of those things is that she has to get Al to come home from work at lunch time for a quickie.

Was this something that usually happened during daytime radio in the US in the mid 90s? How would you even prove something like this happened with a phone conversation? Why didn't Peggy just lie about it to claim the $1000?

This show has a lot of questions to answer about it's ludicrous antics over the years!

The joke is that Al won't even have sex with his wife for $1000 OP

There's a shot in one of the episodes where Seven's the missing kid on a milk carton.

The producers originally brought him in for the same reason that the Brady Bunch brought in Cousin Oliver. They then ditched him for the exact same reason the Brady Bunch ditched Cousin Oliver.

Normally I don't make aesthetic criticisms in other peoples' homes, but that rug looks like a beaver exploded. If meat is murder, then that rug is at least a severe beating.
As if I didn't know what MWC wasn't about. It was one of those shows that my dad watched l, so we all had to watch it.

Despite the numerous issues with the show in this day and age, i do like that they dedicated an episode to Amanda Bearse coming out. Even if it was a few years after the fact.

Even though the episode was based around Marcy's identical cousin instead of the anonymous sister that was vaguely mentioned a couple of times.

When Ed O'Neill auditioned for Al, apparently everyone else was doing it like older sitcoms, with Al as a boisterous loud shouty a-hole. And Ed saw him as a defeated man. Just a sad sack waiting for the next shovel full of dirt to be tossed onto his casket.

Anyway, first season of Married with Children was a lead in to Women in Prison, so as an excuse

Fox kept trying to make actual spin-offs from MwC to cash in on its massive popularity, it was pretty much their Happy Days in that respect except their spin-offs always failed, lol

One that actually made it to air was Top Of The Heap starring Matt LeBlanc and Joseph Bologna reprising their minor MwC characters Vinnie and Charlie Verducci, with Al and Bud and the other MwC characters making the occasional guest appearance.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-MTLi29SOI

There was also a ridiculous number of MwC remakes all around the world. Sometimes they wrote new scripts but for the most part they just licenced the original scripts from Fox and made slight changes to localize the references
