A few match highlights from Japan...

June 11, 1976, Terry vs Jumbo Tsuruta, NWA title. Jumbo spent the first 6 months of his career in Texas learning the ropes from the Funks, so not only were they very familiar with each other but Terry always wanted to make him look good. Textbook old-school wrestling match.

December 1977, The Funk Brothers vs Abdullah the Butcher and (original) Sheik. All-time great performance from Terry that permanently endeared him to the Japanese fans. Abby and Sheik use the "hiding a weapon from the ref" tactic to maul Terry, so we get epic selling from him.

Terry vs Stan Hansen, April 14, 1983. Bah gawd slobberknocker right here.

The Funk Brothers vs Hansen & Gordy, August 31, 1983. Terry's first retirement. Big heat and an emotional post-match.

The Funk Brothers vs Choshu and Yatsu, August 31, 1985. This match is 100% about Terry being a raving maniac.

Context: the Guerreros worked in Texas for decades, so it was only natural for Terry to want to make young Eddie (who had endless potential as we see there) look good.

ditch i thought your site was gone forever and had a web archive of it saved to reference, thank you for not letting it die
I'm in the process of consolidating and also it goes down sometimes, but I'll be damned if all the effort I put into those will be for nothing!

I tried all those links at work and my computer lit up like a christmas tree lol. Some IT observer just saw a ton of stuff get blocked.
The Mediafire links don't seem to work with the Chrome browser I'm on right now but they work fine with Firefox. But I can't speak to firewalls.
