John Carpenter was a super underrated filmmaker. Everyone knows him for his horror stuff, but to this day Starman is one of the only romantic comedies I go back to, and Big Trouble in Little China is still the most iconic "comic book" movie I've ever seen. Dude could kill it in any genre (and compose the score at the same time). Would have been great to see what he was capable of if Hollywood hadn't done him so dirty.
