core annual income of £16m, and they're on the hook for £64m in annual servicing of £1.2bn in loans that the previous (Tory) leadership took out to acquire 'assets' that are now worth £600m less than at time of purchasing

Just for some context lost at the national level.

The “swimming pool” is called Pool in the Park, consisting of a leisure centre, a proper swimming pool, a large shallower pool for kids/weaker swimmers. It is surrounded by art projects, gardens, a large green used for various sports, a skate park, mini golf, a play park and tennis courts. A huge indoor sports centre adjoins the site.

It has been an absolutely critical hub for the entire town of Woking for as long as I’ve been alive.

If it shuts down, nothing like it would ever replace it.

Big up the old Tory council and their bff developer friends who bankrupted the borough.

The main issue I have with dogs is the “running amok in sensitive sites” and how much they can gently caress up protected freshwater bodies.

But that’s just owners being too stubborn/not giving a poo poo.

Please do check if going to a new place if it’s a hub for ground nesting birds, high water quality, etc before you let the dog off the lead. Had to yell at an owner who was letting their dog chase a curlew around the edge of a SSSI pond where it was nesting. Poor thing was alarm calling and trying to dive bomb the dog drive it away to no success. Luckily didn’t notice the nest itself. Owner at least apologised, I don’t think she’d noticed what it was doing.

But properly controlled/trained good dogs are a highlight whenever you meet them, and deserve all the fuss.

Dogs in pubs are a net good, children should be waiting outside the pub as I did when I was a lad.

Think my parents quite liked it when I could pop inside and get them something from the cigarette machine whilst they were in the beer garden. There were perks!

Having an area of wilderness it’s a pain to get around is probably useful at stopping us running in and stomping on all the endangered small creatures, as is our wont.

Are any councils not going to be bankrupt in the next few years at this rate.

Lmao that must be a mistake. The garden is 3 meters by 71 meters what the gently caress

By the time you get to the end of it you'll need the toilet again

Actually seen a garden like this, just a really long narrow strip tapering to a point on the border of an RSPB reserve. No wider than I’d say 4m at any point. Had about a hundred deer skulls stacked against the fence, apparently the guy used to be a gamekeeper.
