Let the Burning man Org pay for this. No public funds should be spent to rescue them. They bought the Fly ranch in Northern Washoe county. They should move it off of BLM land to the ranch they bought.

The "festival as it is now" has changed over the years. We used to go look for the art cars lining up before the event and now just see either custom painted RV's or the "Rent America RV's" with people taping blue tape on the windows so the playa dust doesn't make them pay a cleaning fee. Playa dust gets everywhere.

Reno attracts a lot of weird people. I got stuck in a rural Nevada hotel across from some post burners last year that kept me up all night yelling and being drunk. Those heathens were drinking coca cola out of a 2 liter bottle and I think washing it down with cheap whiskey. In that order. The aftermath the next morning outside of their room confirmed this.

The burn has changed and this year I really mean it when I say gently caress Your Burn.

Imagine fighting for the Union and being buried under a traitor’s rock.

Campbell County residents to correct grave marker for Civil War veteran

quote:

GILLETTE, Wyo. — Thanks to Campbell County residents’ research, a Civil War veteran buried in Mount Pisgah Cemetery, 804 S. Emerson Ave., Gillette, will have special attention Sept. 6.

At 9 a.m. that day, Pvt. George Henry Eighmy will get a new headstone, Campbell County Rockpile Museum Educator Penny Schroder said.

Eighmy is the step-grandfather of George “Rock” Emigh, Schroder said.

George Emigh, who moved to Gillette in 1962 and died in 1983, also served in the military, on the Mexican border, according to notes from a 2017 Campbell County Historical Society and Campbell County Cemetery District tour with Mary Kelly and Sandy Holyoak.

“After researching Mr. Eighmy (pronounced Amy), volunteer Greg Bennick and I learned [he] had been buried with a Confederate headstone, but that he actually served in the Union Army as a blacksmith with Co. G, 35th NY Infantry,” she said in an email.

Eighmy’s grave is in Plot 6, SubLot 10, which is near the top of the cemetery, she said. The grave number is N1/2-N1/2.

According to Schroder, Bennick found the following note regarding Eighmy’s service: “Looking at the battlefield map provided by the American Battlefield Trust for Fredericksburg on December 14, 1862 we find our man George H. Eighmy and the 35 NY INF regiment under the command of DeTrobriand in the division of General Gibbon on that battlefield. Turned back by Early’s confederates…”

One of my mom's friends at some point went from "sane, rational person" to "everything is a conspiracy!" right around the end of 2020. The best part it she follows the standard playbook of:

Me, left-leaning: (Sound and rational argument as to why I had faith in the COVID vaccines to eventually NOT put me in the hospital when I finally caught it last week.)
Her, hard-right: "Nuh-uh".
Me: (More critical thinking.)
Her: "The fear campaign worked on you!", continues to fail to show her work.

I think it's also a smidge of that glee Peggy Hill would get when she felt like she had unearthed some big secret. "Oh...my...God. GUESS what I just figured out!"

My wife just so happens to have grown up in the same church as my mom's second grade teacher. My mom is in her 70s, so that she is still around and remembers my mom is pretty amazing (and I grew up across the state, so it's quite a coincidence). You would normally just end the cute story there.

Last I heard, she had become convinced that COVID vaccines were part of Bill Gates's population control master plan.
