I have this memory of gawking at a 7th guest demo in a compusa in New Orleans in the 90s when two lady cops walked up to me and were super impressed by the fmv stuff.

There is a summer thunderstorm outside but you are cozy at home. You are playing with hypercard and finally understand how to make the buttons do things. It is 1993 and you are ten years old and this feeling will remain even if the moment does not.

i'd say around when you could still get significant benefit out of coding in assembly but higher level languages were getting established for less performance critical stuff, so probably around the time DOOM was made

i used hot bot to search for "teens"

imo it's either the mid-late 90s when the internet was still pretty new and everyone was trying to figure out what you could do with it, and things were always just a little broken, but in ways that were almost fun. or the late 00s-early 10s when computers were more powerful but before they got turned into primarily ad-serving devices.

[ASK] me about OS/2 Warp
fun era: when we were all rolling the dice on ECS K7S5A motherboards which were allowed to be sold despite having a ~20-30% DOA rate. Newegg's returns department must have had a gun in their mouth

Paired with the t-bird chips that you could crack the core on (i did this once) cause no heatspreader

cheap as HELL tho! could build a basic gaming machine for like $350
