Belichick should retire if the Pats don't make a wildcard. His drafting and free agency work has been a disaster the last half decade. He's about to reach the tipping point where his coaching acumen no longer makes up for his poor GM work.

You're gonna to replace a veteran QB's quarterback coach without even asking him about it? Rodgers wasn't really wrong with most of his complaints about the Packers. Certainly they didn't try very hard to build around him in the back part of his time there.

It's been a while since I looked at the numbers but iirc the majority of the Packers' income comes from the revenue share. This is ridiculous on many levels. The most ridiculous is the idea that they would ever move out of Green Bay. Not even Roger Goodell would have the audacity.

If you go by what Forbes estimated in 2022 the Packers had the league's 10th most revenue: $543 million. For comparison, the Lions had the lowest at $452 million. With the exception of the Cowboys, the majority of every team's revenue comes from the league's revenue sharing system.

Actually I would say Douglas screwed up the QB position three times already. They saw how goddamn awful Wilson was in 2021, and went into 2022 with Joe Flacco as QB2. This whole saga is just more evidence that cutting bait on your failed blue chip QB is the way to go.

The only thing that should save Douglas is if he comes out this week and either trades for a QB or says that they will move on from Rodgers and Wilson after the season.

sirtommygunn posted:Saying he would move on from Rodgers would ensure he's fired. We gave up way too much to drop him without seeing if he can come back and play next year. Personally I doubt he could, but the alternative is accepting that we're hosed for the rest of this year and the next with nothing to show for it and no way to recover. So what, you commit to giving the guy who fumbled that hard 3 more years to get us back on track? No way in hell. It's a sunk cost at this point. They wasted two years on Wilson and now one year on Rodgers. You wanna gamble ANOTHER year on a 40 year old QB coming off an achilles?

Let's pretend that happened. Whomever they bring in will just be Bill's bitch. The fundamental problem is that he still thinks talent doesn't matter as much as being a good role player.
