Scores! The fairytale run finally ends for Leperflesh, Kevino07 is our only bust of the week, and Acebuckeye13 tops the table. This was overall a pretty low scoring week yardage-wise.

Standings! Despite laying a goose egg this week Leperflesh remains on top of the standings, with some minor jostling throughout the field. I'm getting close to being dropped from the playoffs entirely!

Yeah to remove that kind of ambiguity when the field is an odd number, the 'top half' is rounded down, so with 11 players it's top 5. But yes you should have enough points to at least clinch a playoffs spot :unsmith:

Although I see a lot of unused (or unbusted) Minerals tokens out there, and we have one more theme week this season (this week!) so there's still plenty of points on offer!

There was a small discrepancy in the previously-posted weekly results - Leperflesh's Minerals bust should have placed him at the bottom of the table rather than in his original position of 6th. Makes no difference to them, but everyone below Leperflesh gets bumped up a place.

Week 16 - IT'S HOLIDAY TIME

Quick notes

There are two games on Saturday and THREE games on Monday this week - take that into account when submitting your entries. The last game chronologically on Monday - BAL @ SF - is the BBQ# game this week. Feel free to use as many players from the other two MNF games as you wish.
Even though there's only three weeks left, there are still a large amount of points on offer. Finishing first in each week nets you 70 points, which is doubled to 140 if you play the Minerals token each week, so that's 420 points. This theme week offers up to 100 bonus points as well, giving a total maximum of 520 points that can be earned. This means that only Hizawk and barnold are mathematically eliminated from the playoffs, and anyone from Nystral on upwards to our current leader Leperflesh can finish first overall during the regular season. Sure, they might need to be extremely lucky, but it's possible, so don't give up! Also, if you're currently clearing the cutoff for the playoffs, your position is certainly not safe - get those entries in

Special rules for this week

As mentioned in previous weeks, Week 16 is a theme week! Tis the season, to be sure, and the reason is receiving gifts! This week, we will be celebrating those in the NFL that do all the hard work receiving carefully delivered packages of yards from their QB each week. That's right, receivers! The rules are similar in principle to the Thanksgiving theme week we had earlier in the season - read further for more specifics. As usual, you are not obligated to engage in the theme this week - feel free to just put in a regular entry in that case.

Rules:

The objective of this theme week is to choose up to five players who you think will get the most from Santa (i.e. be the best gift receiver) amongst all players in the game they are playing in.
A player will be judged to be the best gift receiver (and the one most deserving of a ten point bonus) if they have the most receiving yards amongst ALL PLAYERS in the game that they are playing in. Not just their team, all players in the same game. So any player you pick will be competing against all other players on their team as well as their opponent - be sure to pick your receivers from different games!
Any nominated player that is the best gift receiver gets you ten bonus points! If you hit on all five players, you get a cool 50 point bonus for a total of 100!
You can pick up to 5 receivers in addition to any regular players you want to include in your list. Receivers must be indicated with a R, e.g.:

The yardage type is always Receiving for a gift receiver. No other yards accrued by the player will be considered when judging them to be the best gift receiver in their game.
You can choose any player you like for your receivers - WRs, TEs, RBs, even QB if ol' Saint Nick Foles is playing - EXCEPT FOR players from the BBQ# game. You can use a receiver as your BBQ# player but they will not count towards the theme.
You can use the same player as both a gift receiver (R: ...) and a regular player with a yardage type other than Receiving in your entry if you wish.
Much like turkeys during the Thanksgiving theme week, your receiver yardage is included in your overall yardage total, so remember to factor that in.
You can use tokens as per any normal week, as long as you have them available. So feel free to use a Shadow to help escape a bust, or bet on yourself with a Minerals token for even more bonus points.

An example - say you choose three players as receivers (please ignore that this example is quite dated!):

R: PIT - Antonio Brown - Receiving yards
R: KC - Tyreek Hill - Receiving yards
R: NO - Alvin Kamara - Receiving yards

Antonio dominates in a must-win game for the Steelers with 120 yards, 20 yards clear of the next-best receiver in the game (let's say it was Joe Mixon from the Bengals). Antonio gets you 10 points. Tyreek scrapes ahead of the next-best in his game (Spencer Ware from KC) with 75 yards, earning you another 10 points. But Kamara gets pulled from the game after only 10 yards to be encased in bubble wrap for the playoffs, finishing well short of the best receiver in his game (Michael Thomas from NO). Kamara gets you no bonus points. Each of Brown's/Hill's/Kamara's yards (205 yards total) are added to your overall yardage total for the week.

Small clarification re: theme week receivers - you cannot use players from the BBQ# game as receivers for this week's theme. You can of course use a receiver from this game as your BBQ# player, but they will not be able to earn any bonus points.

Ok it's nowhere near as fancy as the ESPN machine - it's just me doing some maths based on where everyone stands currently and how many points are available over the remainder of the regular season.

Grittybeard, Beefed Owl, Aggro, Wolfy, Hizawk, and barnold are all unfortunately mathematically eliminated from the playoffs. However, only Leperflesh has clinched a playoffs berth - everyone else is still in play for a spot!

PLAYOFF RULES

The structure is described below.

The top 7 players will gain entry into the playoffs. We're currently at 12 regular players so this is reasonable. If we suddenly get an influx of regulars in the coming weeks, I may change this cutoff accordingly - the new cutoff will be announced if and when this change is made.
The 7 players will be split into two groups - the top three (the Contenders group), and the bottom four (the Wildcards group). Ranking is based on the total number of points accrued during the regular season.
Contenders will each receive three Normal tokens - Donald, Professor, and Shadow - to use during the playoffs. Wildcards will receive one Normal token of their choice. All other tokens will be unavailable. All regular season tokens will expire at the end of the regular season and cannot be carried into the playoffs.
The three playoff rounds will proceed as follows:
- Round 1 - WILDCARD
  - In the first playoff round (Wildcard) all 7 players will submit an entry, however each group will compete separately i.e each player's score will be ranked only against the other members of their group.
  - In the Contenders group, the top scoring player will advance directly to the third and final round of the playoffs. The other two players will advance to the second round (Divisional).
  - In the Wildcards group, the two top scoring players will advance to the second round, and the bottom two players will be eliminated.
- Round 2 - DIVISIONAL
  - Four players will compete in the second round - the top two from the Wildcards group, and the bottom two from the Contenders group.
  - The two top scoring players will advance to the final round, and the bottom two players will be eliminated.
- Round 3 - CONFERENCE
  - Three players will compete in the third round - the top scorer from the Contenders group from Round 1, and the top two from Round 2.
  - The top scoring player will be crowned the 1KYOB 2023 Champion!

This new structure gives the top three regular season players a significant advantage in the playoffs. If you're currently in that zone - congratulations! Make sure you keep playing each week to stay there, because the rest of the field are not far behind. If you are in need of a boost in the standings, remember that almost everyone still has a Minerals token that's worth either 35 points (top half finish) or 70 points (first place) that can be used in as many weeks as you like until you fail to finish in the top half of the field for any week that you use it. Get those entries in!
