I love how DS1's world is a fully connected, cohesive chunk of land and structures to run around in. The gameplay is more refined in 3, but it's good enough in 1. not really. game looked dogshit even on a crt, and the writing's dry but not dry enough. they nailed a sweet spot with the first two papers in writing, and the gameplay wasnt broken to boot

prob still final fantasy tactics at the end of the day. soundtrack goes hard, I love the artwork a lot of the spell effects are really cool looking esp, pretty intricate storyline for the time involving a commoner manipulating a war to sieze the throne and a cult within the high church trying to ressurct a dead god. also I love settings where there's ancient technology way beyond the current situation I always think that's rad. overall its just gaming comfort food for me e: also deeply involves class warfare which hell yeah

alternate answer: when I want something a little faster paced than an old tactical rpg - doom eternal, it is very fun to reduce demons to tiny bits in that video game
