I like my offense although it's hard not to when you get to draft a guy coming off an 150 point season. I drafted more offensive d-men then I usually do in the LSL. Kinda punted hits but it should be a pretty solid team if the goaltending holds up.

That’s the biggest draft I’ve done, 20 teams means each turn you really noticed the drop in quaility.

No idea how my team will go, I assume it depends an awful lot on Skinner and Binnington. Probably went to early with Centres, they hung around longer than D. Last pick of Lyon is hoping he gets a bunch of starts for Tampa off waivers.

Now I need a name..

I feel okay about the draft overall, but drat was I snakebit for goalies. It always felt one round early to go for someone like Jarry, Levi, Binnington, etc, and naturally they'd get scooped up on the way back around the snake.

Ended up committing to skater categories, with the hopes one of the bad teams has a surprising year.

Pretty happy I suppose. I jumped early on goaltending as that tends to sink me but forgot about other goalies until the 17th round so hope that works out! Also my D outside of the top 3 is pretty shaky. Got some got solid multi-category guys like my namesake Vinny and went for a pretty balanced team. Betting on Bedard but that seems like a pretty safe bet. As far as risky moves I’m hoping on some big bounce back/change of scenery guys like Johansson, Bertuzzi, Hubs, Chychrun, Sheary to turn into steals.

I know it's autocorrect or whatever but Joust Saros is an amazing name.

By the way, out of curiosity, what makes a player fall under the "ineligible keeper" designation?

Go to the league, change the season to last season, and then look at the draft results. If the player wasn't drafted then you can assume it was a waiver pickup or FAAB bid, and you can just look up adds by your team to see how much you paid (if it was a FAAB). If you didn't pay anything, then it was $1 and now $2 if you keep them.

In HHL, is there anyway to reduce the length of the draft? Like, I think it takes 30 seconds from the time someone makes a pick to the time it goes through. Then goes back to 10 seconds as soon as someone else makes a bid.

Maybe I am the only one who wants a shorter draft, though.

Additionally, do we want to change bid times per Twin's suggestion here? (also send me you and your friend's keepers TC!)

I mean there’s no harm in reducing the first 30 seconds to 10, there’s not a player ranked in the first 50 according to yahoo rankings that would go for $1 anyway.

I’m not sure if 5 seconds per bid is too short though.

Playoffs are no big deal,
don't have a crap attack.
Since I suggested, I do like the change. I think enough people are on it, so if McDavid gets nominated for $1, he isn't slipping through. My issue is mostly that the first part of the draft can take so long and really gets dragged out in a bidding war.

My keepers
H. Lindholm ($1 -> $2)
Dubois ($56 -> $68)
Hartman ($2 -> $3)
Wilson ($1 -> $2)

My friend's

Hischier ($13 -> $16)

Carlson ($6 -> $8)

Anything to make the draft shorter is ideal. I think the time to pick a player is fine. Is there a way to reduce the time to place a new bid? I know 10 seconds already isn't long but when people wait for 9 to pass before upping the bid, multiple times in a row, it definitely adds up.

I feel a lot happier with this than I did with my LSL draft. Naturally that probably means this team will suck and the other one will do well. We'll see.

Only concern is maybe I sprung for a third goalie too early but honestly I was a bit nervous about Ullmark getting hurt or losing the job. Far less likely for Saaros or Jarry to not be full time starters.

It’s a really interesting set of draft rules, the lack of +-, blocks and hits really encourages picking one dimensional scorers, and being on poo poo teams doesn’t really matter at all.

Dude Where's Makar
Pretty happy with this. Went with the same strategy as last year which is "draft good goalies fast" since they're a third of the scoring categories but only a fraction of the roster slots. Everything else is fine, nothing crazy. Basically just went for consistent scorers and guys who get a good chunk of time on the power play. Felt like I got some good value in rounds 12-15 picking up top 6 players on mostly good teams that late.

Ahhh you were Grand Moff. Felt like every time it went into your "end" before snaking back out you'd snipe 2 of the top 3~ remaining on my list. :argh: :sigh:

I felt like this was a way tougher draft than LSL, probably due to it involving half as many drafted players and thus less opportunities to snag a diamond in the rough. Missing out on Schmid and Kochetkov in both drafts stings.

(I will consider trades for both, in both leagues!)

Sorry! I got sniped a few times as well if it's any consolation.

lmao of course, kudos on the strong draft

I'm relying on quite a few "returning from IR" skaters, and the stretch from Barzal through Johansson was where I really struggled to sift through the options and almost ran out of time lol.

One day I'll do some barebones pre-draft setup instead of trying to assess everything on the fly lol.

I've got a case of malt liquor stashed in the trunk, Mr. Marvin Gaye on the CD. We are gonna get all the way down.

I decided to join another league to go along with my keeper league, so I found a $15 yahoo/leaguesafe league that drafts tomorrow night an hour before the keeper league draft.

I'm very excited for this league, 1st pays $115, 2nd pays $35. The scoring is pretty much identical to my keeper league except there is a UTIL slot added and hits don't matter. It's 10 teams, and half of them are self-proclaimed hockey noobs.

Oh, and I have 1st pick.

Does anyone know where to change it? Went through like every option and I'm not seeing anything.

Looking this up, and I am unsure if you’ve already looked here, but it’s in League settings and under “Live Draft Pick Time”. Unsure if this includes the time for when a player is already picked, or if it’s only the time for when someone gets to choose who gets nominated.
