As someone that's had to live in the south, yes there is absolutely intention meant with a hard hit on the last syllable. Any pronunciation is bad, but there's a certain brand of bigot that wants to make sure that you know they really mean it Lol, efb by an almost identical post while trying to figure out how to word it
